Gaza Flotilla Video | On-Board Footage Of Israeli Navy Boarding Gaza Strip Aid Convoy

Posted: 31 May 2010 09:00 AM PDT

Israel has attacked the convoy of ships attempting to take humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Countries around the world have condemned the military action and branded it over the top.

This video shows footage of the boarding on one of the ships as it happened. At least 10 people are known to have been killed.

Israel has blocked aid coming into Gaza since Hamas took power in 2007. Although some aid is let through, it’s estimated it’s only around a quarter of what is needed.

Israel has allies around the world, but even its most staunchest have condemned this action. With the notable exception of the U.S., which seems to give Israel carte blanche to do whatever it damn well likes.

Personally I’m just about sick of hearing about Israel and Palestine, and all the blood that has been spilled for pointless reasons. Grow up, and learn to share the land and the monuments both races hold so dear. Or this is going to end in an almighty war.

Lena of Germany Wins Eurovision Song Contest with “Satellite”

Posted: 30 May 2010 03:43 PM PDT

Pint sized indie poppet Lena has taken out the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest with her impossibly catchy tune “Satellite.”

This is a very different Eurovision winner with a more alternative bent than the bubblegum pop and power anthems of recent years. But just like any good Eurovision victor, this will get stuck in your head and refuse to leave!

It also doesn’t hurt than Lena’s cute as a button, although as any Eurovision watcher knows there’s never any shortage of eye candy in the competition.

Lena’s win means Germany will host next year’s event, which for this Eurovision tragic cannot come fast enough!

Wheelchair Kid Pitch Invasion Video | Dad, I Just Wanted To Join In With The Celebration!

Posted: 30 May 2010 02:10 PM PDT

I feel so sorry for this kid. He’s stuck in a wheelchair but doesn’t want to let this fact hold him back. So when the rest of the crowd invades the pitch after a goal is scored during a soccer match, he joins in.

Good for him, no?

No, at least according to the guy who’s with him, and who I assume is his father. He rushes on to the pitch after him, spins him around and directs him back to the stands. And gives him what looks like a clip around the ear for good measure.

I know that pitch invasions are technically prohibited and could get you arrested. But the stewards don’t react to this one, and the chances of them arresting a kid in a wheelchair are remote, anyway.

Maybe there was a safety concern here, but still. A little harsh, in my opinion.

Red Dead Redemption Short Film Trailer Video | Rockstar Game Movie By John Hillcoat

Posted: 30 May 2010 09:09 AM PDT

Red Dead Redemption is a new game from Rockstar, makers of the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto series. It was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 last week, and has proved to be a huge hit around the world.

To promote the game, Rockstar commissioned John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) to make a short film using the in-game engine. This is the trailer for the resulting Red Dead Redemption short film.

The Red Dead Redemption short film premiered on Fox at midnight last night (Saturday, May 29). Although the full film isn’t yet available to watch online, it’s expected that it will be in time. For now, you’ll have to make do with the trailer.

This is an intriguing concept, because it could mean short films made from video games become the norm. It could also reinvigorate the Western movie genre, which hasn’t been massively popular for decades now.

Watch Awesome Top Gear Bolivia Road Trip Special (Vid) | Which Vehicle Will Survive?

Posted: 30 May 2010 08:35 AM PDT

Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond travelling 1000 miles through rainforests and cliffside roads to the coast of Chile in pre-owned vehicles bought locally in Bolivia for less than £3,500 each?

This should get interesting.

I may not be a person who is very much ‘into’ cars, but I love watching Top Gear. The Bolivia special? Awesome.

I love the challenges these guys come up with. Who wouldn’t love to have their jobs?

Mind you, there are moments on this trip that got downright scary, and I wouldn’t have wanted to be there at the time, that’s for sure.

But at least we know which off-road vehicle really is the best.

Classic Will Ferrell Comedy Web Video | Will and Pearl in “The Landlord”

Posted: 29 May 2010 06:13 PM PDT

A couple of years ago we looked at Will Ferrell appearing alongside tiny tot Pearl in her final web appearance. At the time we mentioned a more popular vid The Landlord, so I figured it was about time we brought you that too!

It’s the shock factor that makes this video work. The sight of pint-sized Pearl cussing out Will Ferrell and begging for booze money is priceless. I also can’t get my niece to focus on anything for more than two minutes, so I’m impressed that this little one has learned all those lines.

It may not be the best example of parenting from Pearl’s folks, but it’s not my kid so I can have a laugh!

Ozzy Osbourne Prank Video | Rock Singer Scares Crap Out Of Fans At Madame Tussauds

Posted: 29 May 2010 03:07 PM PDT

Two things I’d be scared of: Ozzy Osbourne; a Madame Tussaud’s waxwork coming to life. Combine the two and you have a crap your pants inducing moment to tell your friends about.

Ozzy Osbourne has always been beloved by heavy metal fans, thanks to being lead singer of Black Sabbath, and his solo career. However, his popularity extended massively when MTV filmed him and his family for The Osbournes.

Since then, Ozzy’s career has seen a resurgence, Sharon is a huge TV star, and Jack and Kelly are also celebrities.

Ozzy has a new album coming out, and to promote it he headed to Madame Tussaud’s in New York to scare his fans. And he does a good job of pretending to be made of wax before coming to life.

Some of the people he scares cope better than others. I think I’d have run a mile.

Funny Super Sexy CPR (Video) | You’ll Never Forget How To Save A Life

Posted: 29 May 2010 11:28 AM PDT

I was CPR-certified in 11th grade, though, I have since lost my certification card and my memory of the entire class.

This video, on the other hand, will probably stay with me until the day I die. The correct way to do CPR has never been done in a more appealing way.

Whenever I see those CPR signs in a restaurant or airplane, I can never really visualize the procedure in my head. The way this particular instructional video is filmed, it’s almost hard not to. Granted, the camera-panning and hot models might have something to do with that.

Legally speaking, CPR isn’t supposed to be performed by a trained person due to the fact that improperly doing the procedure might make the situation worse. It also should be noted that wearing lingerie always makes any situation better.

Stalag 17 Video Trailer | Perfect Memorial Day Weekend Movie Starring William Holden

Posted: 29 May 2010 10:07 AM PDT

Monday is Memorial Day in the United States, meaning this weekend is Memorial Day weekend, with the two usual days off extended by a third. But what to do with that extra period of rest and relaxation?

Why not watch a couple of movies, beginning with Stalag 17?

Stalag 17 is a 1953 movie about World War II, particularly about a Prisoner Of War camp called, yep you guessed it, Stalag 17. It was directed by Billy Wilder and stars William Holden. Ably assisted by Don Taylor and Otto Preminger.

This movie was made a full 10 years before The Great Escape, regarded as the other big POW flick. The Great Escape is a lot more dramatic, while this focuses more on the comedy side of things.

If you life war films, then be sure to catch Stalag 17. heck, what else are you going to do this weekend?

Gary Coleman Dead At 42 (Video) | Reveals Years Of Health Problems, Depression

Posted: 29 May 2010 09:10 AM PDT

Gary Coleman, best known for his role on the TV show Different Strokes, has passed away of a brain hemorrhage. He was on life-support for most of Friday and died instantly after being removed from it.

Gary had undergone numerous health problems in his life including seizures, depression, and kidney failure.

Though success in the television industry made him famous, he expressed his disdain for it in an interview once saying, "I would not give my first 15 years to my worst enemy.” Though he was earning millions a year, he filed for bankruptcy in 1999 due to mismanagement.

Being an 80’s baby, I’m too young to grasp how big Different Strokes was, but I do remember watching the re-runs as a kid. Coleman may have passed away, but the catch phrase “What you talkin bout Willis?” will probably never die.

Watch Funny Ventriloquist Terry Fator & Soul Singer Puppet Julius Video

Posted: 29 May 2010 08:21 AM PDT

Terry Fator and his puppets not only have a comedy routine, but they sing, too!

I have seen quite a few ventriloquists’ videos on YouTube (you really can find almost anything on YT, can’t you?), but Terry Factor is very impressive.

Not only is he funny, but his ability to use his vocal chords and sing like he does – without moving his lips – is amazing. I didn’t even see them twitch.

Of course, my focus was mostly on the puppets, which is what he counts on, but I did look at him quite a few times.

I wonder what makes a person want to be a ventriloquist, though. Hm.

Cute Kangaroo Rat Video | Not Your Typical ‘Dirty’ Rodent

Posted: 28 May 2010 09:42 PM PDT

A new furry phenomenon is grabbing at the interests of many scientists all around Europe and The United States. Dwelling in California’s arid Mojave desert, this creature is not only in danger of the sun, but of anything larger than 1 foot.

Narrated by yet another creepy old white man with a British accent, this clip is short but remains informational and very interesting.

The Kangaroo Rat is exactly what is sounds like, a small rat-like rodent with kangaroo characteristics. With pouches built in its cheeks, enormous hind legs and lengthy tail, this tiny beast seems to be the perfect example of a bad-ass hybrid, yet it manages to remain cute as a button.

The “battle” at the end between the snake and the rat is just as cute- and here I thought the little guy was going to be killed on camera.

Watch Six Year Old Girl with Schizophrenia News Video | Born with Mental Illness?

Posted: 28 May 2010 07:13 PM PDT

Are people born with mental illness, or are mental illnesses created through circumstance. In the case of six year old Jani, it would seem she was born with it.

Only six years old and prone to violence, hallucinations, violence against her little brother and fits of rage that even cause fear in her parents.

What a life.

I hardly know what to say on this one except that I can’t help but feel sympathy for that little life. While I’m sure she will contribute to science and psychology, I don’t think that is any way for a child to live.

World’s Luckiest Bike Rider Video | Asian Cyclist Almost Killed By Cars

Posted: 28 May 2010 06:49 PM PDT

This is one of the closest near misses I’ve ever seen. Had this bike rider been pedaling just a fraction faster or slower, he would have been toast.

As it is, he just happens to find himself in between the path of two colliding cars. It’s so good that you just need to see it again on the action replay.

Something tells me this cycling man will need a new pair of underpants once he gets home. But after changing his dacks, he definitely needs to buy a lottery ticket. Clearly he is the luckiest man alive!

Grateful Dog Rescue Video | Police Officer Gets More Than He Bargains For As Thankyou

Posted: 28 May 2010 12:57 PM PDT

This video is guaranteed to warm your heart on an otherwise tepid day in May. At least if you have a heart, which I’m not sure everybody does judging by some of the stuff going on in the world.

This poor dog has somehow got itself trapped in a bit of metal fencing at the back of some random woman’s property. A woman who, by the by, seems to be deaf or just fascinated by the police officer’s name.

The police officer does his job and releases the dog as safely and efficiently as possible. All the time trying to keep it calm and assured.

The dog is free, and runs off. And when the office returns to his car, there’s the dog sitting in the passenger seat waiting to go home. Talk about gratitude to his rescuer – this dog has a new best friend!

I just hope the dog was either returned to its owner or found a new home. Possibly with the police officer.
