Paris Rosen Crash Video | Motocross Rider Fails To Fully Flip Forward At X Games 16

Posted: 31 Jul 2010 10:21 AM PDT

Motocross rider Paris Rosen had a nasty incident at X Games 16 on Friday night. He tried and failed to pull off a front flip during the best trick competition, and ended up in hospital.

Watching live must have been bad enough, but watching the replay on repeat endlessly really shows the bone-crunching reality of what happened.

Rosen just never seemed to get the flip started, rolling forward far too slowly to complete the maneuver before the ground came up to meet him. He landed on his back, which from that height is bad news.

Let’s hope Paris is OK. Initial news from the hospital suggests he’ll be relatively fine. We all make mistakes in different facets of our lives, but when you’re taking part in an extreme sport the consequences are worse than normal.

Amazing Ultimate Frisbee Catch (Video) | Put This Guy In The Olympics

Posted: 30 Jul 2010 05:23 PM PDT

Currently, Ultimate Frisbee is not considered worthy of the Olympic games. This clip, on the other hand, proves otherwise.

I’d prefer to see incredible catches like this over shot-put any day.

Before seeing this clip, I have to admit, it never occurred to me that professional Ultimate Frisbee even existed. Being a long-time fan of under-appreciated sports like Badminton and Rugby, I was instantly intrigued.

The slow-mo replay at the 41 second mark shows how truly incredible the dive was. I’m sure his ribs hurt like hell the next day!

The Best Dog In The World Video | Aussie’s Canine Friend Fetching A Beer From Fridge

Posted: 30 Jul 2010 04:46 PM PDT

I’m a cat person rather than a dog person. I can’t help it, cats just suit my temperament and personality a lot more than dogs do. However, sometimes I see a dog that I would like to make friends with.

This dog is one of those dogs.

I like my beer, and it has to be cold, so what better than a dog happy and willing to fetch a cold one from the fridge on an evening? Nothing, that’s what.

This 17-month-old Australian Kelpie called Ollie even returns on demand to close the fridge door. How cool is that?

There’s only one thing left to do: train the dog to open the beer for you as he walks the short distance from the fridge. But you can’t have everything, I guess.

Fat Man Gatecrashes News Broadcasts Video | Meet Paul Yarrow

Posted: 30 Jul 2010 04:03 PM PDT

Most of you will not know the name Paul Yarrow, but if you watch British news broadcasts chances are that you’ve seen this portly, fairly unattractive man before.

The unfortunate looking Brit has gatecrashed more than 100 news broadcasts this year for BBC1, ITV, Channel 4, Sky News, and Al Jazeera.

Yarrow says he’s making a statement to simply be yourself. He added that there are too many beautiful people on TV these days and he hoped to change that.

He sure is, one news broadcast at a time. I’d say this certainly isn’t the last we’ve seen of Mr Yarrow.

Dinner For Schmucks Movie Review Video | Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, & Zach Galifianakis

Posted: 30 Jul 2010 11:44 AM PDT

Dinner for Schmucks is the new film from Jay Roach, best known for previously directing Meet The Parents and Meet The Fockers. Those two films give a good indication of what to expect here.

Dinner for Schmucks is full of beloved comedy actors, with Paul Rudd and Steve Carell leading the charge, ably assisted by the likes of Zach Galifianakis, Jeff Dunham, and Jermaine Clement.

This video is the New York Post review of Dinner for Schmucks. To say it’s a very middling review is an understatement. The film is awarded an average 2 out of 4 stars, but still considered the best comedy to be released this year.

Dinner for Schmucks is loosely based on The Dinner Game, a French farce from 1999. But while that was a one-set film based on a stage play, Dinner for Schmucks takes a different approach. And probably suffers as a result.

Watch Funny Jane Austen’s Fight Club Spoof Video | No Sense & Sensibility Anymore

Posted: 29 Jul 2010 08:14 PM PDT

Society women sick of society’s ways in 1810 are ready to get down and dirty in Jane Austen’s Fight Club.

I love this. I can just imagine Emma punching out someone (pretty much anyone) in her frustration as a not so great matchmaker.

I haven’t actually ever seen the movie Fight Club, but it must have been fairly popular if it is still having spoofs like this made of it years later.

Taking a look at the description of the video on YouTube, I’m impressed at everything it took to make this video. Well done.

Cute Baby Eats Watermelon From the Inside Out Video

Posted: 29 Jul 2010 06:28 PM PDT

What you see is what you get with this adorable video. It features a cute-pie baby devouring a watermelon in its own unique way.

Rather than stepping outside the watermelon as most humans do, this baby sits inside the watermelon to feast! Oh to be small enough to bathe in your food like this.

It’s really quiet ingenious, and a successful way of keeping the kid quiet. As someone who doesn’t really warm to small children, I appreciate any act of parenting that sees a tot so well behaved.

This is such a simple video, but I’ll bet it makes you smile!

Fake Pilot Faint Video | How To Induce Panic

Posted: 29 Jul 2010 04:53 PM PDT

I’ve yet to fly on an airplane, not through fear of flying or anything, but because I’ve never been anywhere further afield from the U.K. than France. Which is a ferry or train ride away.

However, this video puts me off the idea of flying in a small aircraft owned and piloted by a friend. Especially if it’s a friend prone to pulling practical jokes of the nastiest kind.

Flying pretty low over the countryside, this pilot thinks it would be a good idea to pretend he’s fainted, leaving the cameraman screaming at the top of his lungs in an effort to rouse him.

And would you just look at that smug look on his smug face. Is it just me or is Patrick!!! (exclamation marks essential) a douchebag of the highest order?

Obama On ‘The View’ Video | U.S. President Controversially Appears On Daytime Chatshow

Posted: 29 Jul 2010 11:51 AM PDT

Sitting U.S. President Barack Obama has made an appearance on The View to discuss politics and more. This video shows one brief clip from his interview on the couch.

His appearance is considered controversial because The View is a daytime TV chat show with viewers some people assume won’t be very political. Which is a little patronizing if you ask me.

The fact is that The View probably gets a good cross-section of the public watching every day, and many more will have tuned in to see what Obama had to say for himself.

Obama covered many subjects on the show, ranging from race, to pop culture, to his family life, and the problems currently facing America and its citizens. I thought it was a solid, if not exactly blinding, performance.

Cool Shopping Cart Moonwalk (Video) | Is That Michael Jackson At Walmart?

Posted: 28 Jul 2010 09:34 PM PDT

Maybe there was a sale, or perhaps this guy just loves to dance- either way this little moment would certainly make my day if if this happened at Wal-Mart.

The next time I’m shopping I just might have the urge to try it…

At first, I was disappointed because I thought the family with the cart seen in the first few seconds were the ones “moonwalking.” Then, out of nowhere, a man shot across the screen doing the unthinkable. I just had to press play again. Hell, I’ve probably replayed this clip five times since!

It’s the little viral videos that tend to get millions of views and remixed to death, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this 9 second clip became the next “keyboard cat.”

Watch Interesting ‘Introduction to Japan: The Strange Country’ Animated Documentary Video

Posted: 28 Jul 2010 08:28 PM PDT

From the creator: “This is my final thesis project. My objective is to make Japanese people to think about that everything happening here in Japan, isn’t that normal. So I created this video from foreigner’s point of view, rather than Japanese people’s point of view.

By the way, please don’t call me racist, because I am one of short, small eyes Japanese ;P “

This sometimes funny, sometimes morbid view of Japan and its inhabitants is a documentary style animation that is sure to make you look at Japan a bit differently.

While this video make for a good overview, I would like to see each category get its own video where things are explored thoroughly.

Best Football Celebration Video | Icelandic Soccer Team Reel In A Big Human Fish

Posted: 28 Jul 2010 04:31 PM PDT

It doesn’t matter how obscure the football match is, how poor the teams playing may be, or how decidedly average the goal scored is, it can all be put right by an original and fun goal celebration.

Which is a description perfectly suited to this video.

The game is Stjarnan against Fylkir in the premier Icelandic league. Halldor Orri scores a cocky penalty and decides to stage one of the most original goal celebrations I’ve ever seen.

He starts fishing and catches a whopper almost immediately. His name is Johann Laxdal, otherwise known as Johann the Salmon. And as he’s reeled in he wriggles on the line exactly like a frisky fish.

The clip ends with the rest of his teammates holding Johann up and posing with their record catch. Genius.

“Sucker Punch” Movie Trailer Video | Hot Girls and Swords, What’s Not to Like?

Posted: 28 Jul 2010 03:37 PM PDT

Zack Snyder has a reputation for delivering visually spectacular films, from the Spartan epic 300 to the comic book action flick Watchmen. Here’s the trailer for his latest effort Sucker Punch, a movie which looks every bit as slick as its predecessors.

It sees Emily Browning starring as Babydoll, a pigtailed hottie who survives life in a mental institution by escaping into her imagination. It’s a fairly bleak synopsis, but the cast of sexy young girls bearing samurai swords and guns helps to liven things up.

Snyder had promised us "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns," and the trailer seems to deliver it. We’ll find out whether it’s all style and no substance when Sucker Punch hits American cinemas on March 25.
