Basketball Fail Video | Women Can’t Jump?

Posted: 11 Apr 2010 09:06 AM PDT

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Or, as is more befitting of this video, if at first you fail big time, try and pull off an impressive trick. And fail at that as well. And make a fool of yourself and your teammates. And then suffer the humiliation when someone posts a video of it to YouTube.

I’m going to avoid the obvious sexist jokes suggesting this is why women’s sport is rubbish and how it proves why women should stick to housework and cooking. Because all that garbage simply isn’t true.

However, this video does indicate that the coach teaching these girls how to play basketball needs a reality check. There were so many ways that trick could have gone wrong. And it did do!

What’s more, the girl getting the leg up could have knocked all her teeth out on the hard floor and ruined her looks for life. Is scoring a basket really worth the risk of that? I don’t think so somehow.

Dixie Carter Video | Designing Women, Desperate Housewives Actress Dies Aged 70

Posted: 11 Apr 2010 03:56 AM PDT

The well-respected and much-loved actress Dixie Carter has died at the age of 70. It was announced that she passed away on Saturday morning, but no further details regarding her death have yet been revealed.

Carter will be best-remembered for playing the domineering mother-hen Julia Sugarbaker on Designing Women, a dramatic sitcom which ran from 1986 to 1993, and which inspired Sex and The City.

However, Carter had a long and impressive career away from that show, playing Gloria Hodge, the mother-in-law from Hell on Desperate Housewives, and also starring in Filthy Rich and Diff’rent Strokes.

Carter was still working up to last year, on the film That Evening Sun. She is survived by her husband Hal Holbrook and two daughters. All of whom will no doubt be proud of the legacy she is leaving behind.

Obama Talks To Dead Presidents In PSA (Video) | Jim Carrey & Will Ferrell For CFPA

Posted: 10 Apr 2010 09:44 PM PDT

This latest FunnyOrDie short stars Will Ferrell, Chevy Chase, Ron Howard, Jim Carrey,Darrell Hammond, Dan Aykroyd, Maya Rudolph, Dana Carvey, and more!

Besides being political satire, it doubles as good publicity for the new CFPA bill that the Obama camp is trying to pass.

I have to admit, of all the PSAs that FunnyOrDie has done, this one has to be the most effective one. Before this short I knew almost nothing about the CFPA and didn’t really care. After a bit of googeling, I came to find out that it would help organize and reduce corruption.

Under the Consumer Financial Protection Agency, mortgages, credit cards, student loans, auto loans, payday loans, and other consumer products would be in the jurisdiction of one agency rather than 7 different ones.

One thing’s for sure: big banks aren’t laughing at this short.

Cute Micro Pigs The Latest Must Have Pet News Video

Posted: 10 Apr 2010 06:10 PM PDT

According to this news report, the latest must have pet is a micro pig. And these little guys are so cute, I’m not about to argue.

No ordinary pigs, these cuties are bred to be as small as possible. At birth they’re the size of a tea cup, and full grown they’re about knee high. That probably makes them great for apartment and stashing inside a handbag. After all, those tiny purse dogs are becoming a bit passé!

These little guys are also very clean, low maintenance, free of allergens, and quiet. Frankly they sound like a dream. Now where do I get one?
