Is this the Avengers movie Quinjet? |
The Avengers - Earth's mightiest super-heroes, united to face a threat no single superhero could withstand. Next summer Marvel Entertainment will unleash a mega-movie the likes of which has never been seen and comic fans will be in a blissful state near nirvana... or not.
A colossal motion picture challenging the comic book superhero genre to the limit, the Avengers will unite the stars of three separate films (Chris Evans - Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. - Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth- Thor) and introduce two more (Mark Rufallo - Bruce Banner/The Hulk and Jeremy Renner - Hawkeye) just to sweeten the deal. This is big.
The stylish and sleek jet craft custom designed to carry an Asgardian, Russian super spy, purple-clad carnival performer, super soldier and mutated jade monster around the world, the Quinjet has long been a standby mode of transport for the Avengers. Introduced back in 1969, the vehicle was designed by Wakandan engineers to deal with the double threat posed by the Asgardian deities Ymir and Surtur, the Quinjet has undergone numerous redesigns since then, but it has always met with some disastrous fate by the third page.
Filming has begin in Cleveland, Ohio where city streets have been dressed up to represent some extravagant state of destruction... which I expect a downed Quinjet to be part of. There are early rumors spreading of Avengers Hawkeye and Black Widow mounting an operation against SHIELD to steal the cosmic cube, but it is still far too early to tell.
The appearance of the Quinjet in Joss Whedon's Avengers movie is a no-brainer to your humble narrator, but the designs are causing quite a stir online and have even been removed at express request of the artist from most sites. In searching for any images still live I found these below uploaded about a month ago, so I am not sure if they are the same. In any case, it looks very similar to what I consider the 'classic Quinjet' design as drawn by Colan, Buscema, Perez and Byrne.

The Quinjet sure beats the other options for superheroes getting around the city...
The Avengers stars Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Rufallo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Tom Hiddleston as Loki. The film explodes expectations on May 4, 2012.
