Zedonk Video | Zebra and Donkey Combined Posted: 28 Jul 2010 11:27 AM PDT A zedonk has been born at the Chestatee Wildlife Preserve in Dahlonega, Georgia. This video isn’t of that particular zedonk, but it is of another zedonk and shows what they look like. In case you’re wondering what a zedonk is, it’s a cross between a zebra and a donkey. And it looks like a donkey, with a brown body but black and white stripey legs giving its zebra credentials away.
The zedonk in Georgia has been named Pippi Longstocking because of the stripey-socked legs. The preserve is hoping the arrival of this strange hybrid creature will increase visitor numbers. Zedonks are rare but there have been a number cataloged over the years. They’re cute as hell, but ultimately a little pointless. |
Watch Politician John Dixon Tweet About ‘Stupid Scientology’ News Video | No Apologies Planned Posted: 27 Jul 2010 08:15 PM PDT Councillor John Dixon is facing possible legal action after posting on Twitter that he was hurrying past a church of Scientology before the stupid rubbed off. Hm. I can’t help but wonder if the woman interviewing Mr. Dixon is somehow affiliated with Scientology in some capacity. She seems downright personally offended by what he did. I think he’s fine. Sure, Twitter wasn’t the greatest place to express his opinion, but he’s right: you have to look at his Twitter in context. It’s personal, not political. I don’t think he should have to apologize in any way. He was expressing an opinion on a personal platform. Frankly, I welcome such honesty from any politician. |
Australian Classical Band Aston Covers La Roux’s “Bulletproof” Music Video Posted: 27 Jul 2010 04:42 PM PDT When we last saw Australian classical act Aston they were putting their unique spin on Rihanna’s “Rude Boy.” This time around they’re taking on another pop diva, La Roux. That polish and poise, not to mention a healthy dose of quirk, should ensure we see much more of this Aussie classical-pop act. |
Walking Across America Video | Stop-Motion Montage From New York To San Francisco Posted: 27 Jul 2010 01:45 PM PDT I really haven’t done much traveling in my life. Too many commitments, too little money. And it’s a real shame because there are so many trips I’d like to make. One of these is a road trip across America, which is almost exactly what the guy in this video does. Except rather than driving, he walks. Kind of.
he obviously doesn’t walk the entire way as that would be utter madness and take forever. So instead what he does (no doubt aided and abetted by a few friends) is take around 2,700 snapshots along the way, which have then been compiled into this stop-motion video. This video makes me realize a couple of things: how dull my life is right now, stuck in the same place and not even having holidays; that America is not only vast but pretty empty between cities. |
