India’s Got Talent Performance Video | Another Boring Street Dancer Gets Plaudits

Posted: 22 Aug 2010 11:02 AM PDT

It’s nice to know that some things are universal. The Got Talent reality TV show for one, which means Simon Cowell’s bank balance for another.

But ever better than that, crappy street dancers who receive far more attention than they deserve also seem to be a worldwide phenomenon.

Take this one, for example. He’s alright, but he’s nothing special. I’ve seen all his moves a thousand times before, so why the standing ovation?

Can’t we just round all the street dancers in the world up and massacre them? Sure, it’s cruel to them, but it would be a huge relief for the rest of the population who would no longer have to put up this crap.

The more salient point, however, is what on earth is going on with that female judge’s eyebrows? She looks like she has two randy caterpillars struggling to wriggle off her face.

The Informant! Movie Review | Matt Damon Comedy Drama Makes HBO Premiere

Posted: 22 Aug 2010 05:58 AM PDT

The Informant! received its TV premiere on HBO on Saturday, and I suspect the viewing figures were impressive.

The Informant! is a film released at the cinema in 2009 which made an impressive $33 million at the U.S. box office. It also made money internationally, which isn’t bad for a film of this nature.

Matt Damon stars as Mark Whitacre, the guy who helps the FBI uncover a price fixing scandal at his firm ADM. Damon’s brilliant performance is backed up by good performances from Scott Bakula and Joel McHale.

As this review suggests, The Informant! won’t be for everyone. It struggles to decide whether it’s a comedy or a drama, and that confuses matters a little. But it’s definitely worth seeing, especially as it’s now available to watch on HBO.

Romantic Wedding Proposal Video | Documentary Becomes Love Declaration

Posted: 21 Aug 2010 05:13 PM PDT

There’s no such thing as a simple wedding proposal these days. Washington DC native Jason Braswell is the latest man to go all out for love, and capture it on film.

His paramour Wendy believes she’s part of a documentary about finding love in the city. But it’s actually all a set up designed to conclude with Jason popping the question.

It’s an elaborate scheme, but actually one of the better proposals I’ve watched online. This vid does make for a lovely memento, documenting their lives together and that initial spark before they move on to the next stage of their lives.
