THE AVENGERS COFFEE TABLE BOOK: MARCUS HEARN

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 09:47 PM PST

Ah isn't this book cover fantastic?? I received a charming email last week from Titan the publisher of this new book on The Avengers TV Show. They asked me if might like a complimentary copy of their book! OH HECK YES! Please send me the book!

We'll I got it today! One it is coffee table sized with tons fabulous photos of the many different actors and actresses from the Avengers show over the years. If you love this show as much as I do this new book is a must add to your Holiday shopping lists! Wait until my Mom see my new book! Being a huge Diana Rigg fan, I sat right down to pour over the never seen before high quality photos of this iconic show of the 1960's!

Review from an Amazon buyer:

Just received this book today and its a winner. Another great publication by Titan. Jam packed with photos in the 160 pages, and I wish it was twice the size. Great celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Avengers TV show that was so much fun.

Fans of the series will love this book, the size is nice and large, providing great coverage with the many photos that take us back to that special time. There has never been another show like it, and the great John Steed and Emma Peel never looked better. Of course, this book covers the entire run of the show (minus the New Avengers from the 70s), each season getting it's fair share of exposure. I love these books, full of fun and pictures, and leaving you wanting more.

eBay watch: 1970s JVC Videosphere TV in orange

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 08:51 AM PST

Videosphere

We see a few of these around, but the 1970s JVC Videosphere TV in orange is certainly the more rare colour compared to the more typical white.

It's an iconic design and even though the TV itself doesn't really cut it in 2010, that space helmet look will remain an icon of the era for many years to come. This example is described as being in 'excellent condition' with 'nothing' missing, even down to the original antenna. It works too - see it working on the listing page if you are in doubt. The seller is even offering advice to get it working with modern-day kit, should you need help.

Price? It's on a 'buy it now' for £160, although the seller will also take an offer.

Vivienne Westwood squiggle notebook

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 05:41 AM PST

Squiggle notebookCelebrate one of Vivienne Westwood's most recognisable prints with this squiggle notebook.

One of the products on sale at the revamped Vivienne Westwood website, this notebook is covered with the squiggle pattern which was first used in the 1981 Pirates collection - the collection noted for kick-starting the look of the New Romantics movement. Since then the pattern has turned up as part of Westwood's range for the Rug company and in her wallpapers for Cole & Son, as well as being reinvented in subsequent fashion collections.

The notebook is made from recycled paper and each page is also marked with another Westwood trademark - her orb.

An ideal gift, the notebook costs £25.

Marcus walters
Add a seasonal flavour to your wall with Marcus Walters' Autumn screenprint.

We've already shown you his take on the traditional children's alphabet and here he shows his style works for grown-ups too. The print plays with the bright silhouettes of leaves set against colourful abstracted shapes giving the artwork a very mid-century look.

This is one of a first edition of 40 and costs £175.

LEGO Brick Light

Following yesterday's matchbox light, here is another novelty light, but this time aimed at children (or at least the inner child).

The LEGO Brick Light, has four white LEDs hidden within its studs and can be used as a bedside light or mounted on a wall (the necessary attachments are included). It measures 8cm by 8cm by 4cm, and unlike many LEGO-inspired pieces, is an official LEGO product.  It is available in various colours, but it seems to be pot luck from all retailers as to which colour you will receive.

It is available to buy online from a variety of the usual retailers, including Play, priced £6.99.  A cheap and cheerful stocking-filler, if ever we saw one.

Retro Television Cushion

Jrpc2
Australian website Lark has some sweet cushions based on vintage-style illustrations by Sydney artist Binny Talib, my favourite being this Retro Television Cushion.

The front of the cushion has an illustration of an old-fashioned style television, that looks a bit like Willo the Wisp's Evil Edna, but in red (and minus the angry face). The cushion is a cut-out shape that follows the line of the drawing.

It costs Australian $29 (around £18), although you can expect to double that price for shipping to the UK). Order online from the Lark website.

Ellesse 1970s replica ski jacket

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 12:44 AM PST

Ellesse

Here is something just a little different for winter wear - the Ellesse 1970s replica ski jacket.

Admittedly more suitable for a skiing break (that's what it was originally designed for), it should be pretty useful if winter kicks in hard again this year too. A limited edition collector's piece, the jacket is an exact archive replica, with a 'puffer' style, ribbed collar, waist and cuffs, side pockets, warm padded insulation and of course, some eye-catching '70s style.

If you want one, you can grab one online for £249.
