Lion’s Mane Jellyfish Video | World’s Largest Captive Jellyfish On Display At The Deep Posted: 22 Jul 2010 08:25 AM PDT This video shows the world’s largest captive jellyfish, a Lion’s Mane jellyfish caught by a fisherman off the English coast near Yorkshire. This Lion’s Mane jellyfish is now on display at The Deep aquarium in Hull. And it should drive many visitors to that establishment.
The Lion’s Mane jellyfish can be absolutely huge, with a bell diameter up to 2.5 meters in diameter, and tentacles as long as 30 meters in length. Unfortunately, this one is small by comparison, with a bell diameter of 14 inches. Hopefully this specimen will mature in captivity and grow into a monster as a result. The Deep could end up having to build a huge tank to house it if that does happen though. |
Awesome Lego House on James May’s “Toy Stories” Video Posted: 21 Jul 2010 06:04 PM PDT This video, from James May’s Toy Stories, is one of the coolest I’ve ever seen. It sees everyone’s childhood dreams realized with the creation of an adult-sized Lego house. Of course, Lego houses have their limitations. A Lego chair isn’t the sturdiest piece of furniture, and the Lego whisk is prone to breaking. But the novelty factor surely outweighs those flaws. I’m not sure I’d get the best night’s rest on that hard Lego bed, but I still think I’d be pretty happy waking up to those multicolored bricks! |
Scary Spider Video | That’s A Big One! Posted: 21 Jul 2010 04:00 PM PDT I’m not great with spiders. I know, as a man in my thirties I should be able to cope with a few creepy crawlies, but they’re not my bag. Luckily, I have a cat who deals with most of them. However, as this guy does with his cat, I’d definitely keep mine away from the scarily large spider seen in this video. It’s a whopper.
The cat is desperate to have a go, but the guy keeps him safe. Which is good to see. What’s not so good to see, although it is very amusing, is the guy screaming his head off when the spider gets away and makes a run for it. The big girl’s blouse. Having said that, I’d be the same. Insanely, the guy lets the spider go just outside his house. Which is like an open invitation for it to find its way back. Take it down the road near someone’s else’s house! |
