The Real Katy Perry & Elmo Video | Truth Behind Controversial ‘Sesame Street’ Clip

Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:20 AM PDT

This week began with a controversial Sesame Street clip being pulled from the show by the Children's Television Workshop. But what is the truth behind Katy Perry and Elmo’s meeting of minds?

This video shows what really happened, and rather than being Perry pushing the boundaries and making lewd comments, it was really all Elmo’s fault – the dirty puppet.

It was Elmo that persuaded Perry to dress provocatively, and it was Elmo that wanted to keep filming longer than was necessary. So much so that he rang Mrs. Elmo to tell her he’d be late home from work.

It just shows you can’t always believe what you see on TV, or YouTube for that matter, because it sometimes belies the truth.

Wait. What do you mean that isn’t actually Katy Perry and Elmo. It sure as hell looks like them…

Tony Curtis Tribute Video | Jamie Lee Curtis’ Actor Dad Dies From Heart Attack Aged 85

Posted: 30 Sep 2010 07:07 AM PDT

Tony Curtis, Hollywood legend, notorious ladies’ man, and mother of Jamie Lee Curtis, has died from a heart attack at the age of 85. This video is a short but fitting tribute to Curtis, who has sadly died in his Las Vegas home after suffering cardiac arrest.

Curtis was born Bernard Schwartz in New York in 1925. After a tough upbringing, he served in the navy during World War II, and then began having acting lessons afterwards. In 1948 he landed a job with Universal Pictures, and his career blossomed from there.

Curtis will be best remembered for his roles in Some Like It Hot, Spartacus, and The Defiant Ones. Overall he appeared in more than 140 films, and was one of the pin-ups of the 1950s.

He is survived by his daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, and his sixth wife, Jill Vandenberg Curtis, who he married in 1998. His ex-wives included Janet Leigh, who he was wed to for 11 years from 1951 to 1962.

Shocking Card Factory In China (Video) | Close To Slave Labor

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 03:21 PM PDT

Carpal tunnel anyone?

It’s no secret that factories in China produce more products at a cheaper price than most western countries. The price, however, almost always comes with a hidden humane cost. Could you imagine doing this for 12 hours a day for less than a dollar?

Obviously a meaningless job like this could be done by machines, so my guess is that the factory owner is only doing this until enough money is saved to acquire one. Then, of course, all these people will be jobless.

The next time you play cards, you’ll probably think of this video. As a matter of fact I did.

X-Factor’s Chloe Victoria Lapdance Video | Bootcamp Contestant Exposed As Sex Worker

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 12:48 PM PDT

This video is NSFW, but assuming you’re sitting comfortably at home it’ll be fine. That is at least if you enjoy seeing a girl giving a newspaper reporter a lapdance for money.

The girl in question in Chloe Victoria, who also calls herself Chloe Mafia. Because she’s not very bright.

She’s not the first, and certainly won’t be the last, young girl to turn to the sex industry to try and make some money. But she is the first that has then auditioned for The X-Factor and made it all the way through to bootcamp.

This video shows a British tabloid newspaper paying her to perform a sexy (if you like that sort of thing) dance in a hotel room. And she may have gone further if the undercover reporter had let her.

If you’re a sex worker then don’t go on The X-Factor. Because you will be found it. And then have to live with that stigma, whether it’s a fair one or not.

National Coffee Day 2010 News Video

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 10:47 AM PDT

Today is National Coffee Day. An invented holiday if ever I heard of one. Still, if it means there is a chance of bagging a free coffee somewhere then I’m all in favor of it.

I didn’t know there was such a thing as National Coffee Day until this morning. And I don’t really understand why there is, because coffee is just coffee. Sure, it’s a great drink, but worth having a whole day dedicated to it every year?

Coffee as a drink has been with us since the 9th century when, so the story goes, an Ethiopian goat herder called Kaldi noticed his goats eating coffee berries and acting strangely afterwards. They were effectively caffeined up to their eyeballs.

And so to present day when 600 billion cups of the stuff are consumed every year. And it gets its own day dedicated to it in the U.S.

Cool Metal Pen Video | New Writing Technology Lasts Forever

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 02:15 AM PDT

I must admit, I was pretty happy with pencils. Sure they smudged a bit, but I grew up with these writing implements and accepted them without question … until now. After watching this video, I have to rush out and get myself a metal pen.

These nifty pens are guaranteed to never need replacing, and never smudge. They even write under water. You probably don’t need them to, but they do and that’s pretty fantastic.

If they get blunt, you just need to rub them with a bit of sandpaper and they’re as good as new. Surely that’s better than wrestling with sharpeners, and those teeny tiny pencils that inevitably result.

This may be a bit of a novelty, but it’s a very cool one.

Watch Funny BBC Top Gear TV Commercial | The Stig is Lightning Fast

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 12:17 AM PDT

Short, to the point and lightning fast.

Haha. You never could have convinced me five years ago that I would in any way like – nay, love – a show that had only to do with cars, I would have called you a liar.

Alas, then I found Top Gear.

(The UK version, thank you very much. Sorry Australian version, but you just don’t cut it for me or my husband.)

Speaking of the Stig, however, do they now have a new one? I heard that since the previous one revealed his identity for a book deal, they sacked him. I’m not sure if this is true or not, though…

Watch ABC’s New ‘No Ordinary Family’ TV Show Trailer Video

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 11:45 PM PDT

One of ABC’s newest shows, No Ordinary Family, a family involved in a plane crash comes home to find they now have extraordinary abilities.

The Incredibles meets any number of superhero television shows out there. Not exactly original, but it looks like the network is at least trying to give a variety of new things a go.

According to polls around the net, it looks like opinions are split between people who think the show will be a hit and people who either don’t care for it or won’t watch it. Or both.

I think it is just a little too predictable to come to anything major.

Strange Hippos Licking Crocodiles Video | Bizarre Wild Animal Behavior

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 06:59 PM PDT

Some things just can’t be explained, like why we yawn, why we blush when we're embarrassed, and why hippos like to lick crocodiles.

The latter wasn’t something I knew about either, but this video brings this strange behavior to life.

It seems that while crocodiles are a-feeding, there’s nothing that hippos like more than giving them a great big lick. Personally I wouldn’t go near a croc with snapping jaws if my life depended on it (and it probably would!), but I don’t have a hippo’s physique.

It seems that crocodiles are too intimidated by the hippos to tell them to stop, and so the licking continues. And you thought humans were kinky!

Cheesy Wendy’s Training Music Video | The 90’s Were Pretty Embarrasing

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:11 PM PDT

Lame. Cheesy. Catchy.

Those are just a few words that might come to mind after viewing this old 90’s training video. Don’t get caught tapping your foot.

Having worked for a handful of minimum wage jobs, I thought I saw every type of training video there was. Little did I know Wendy’s actually had a musical one! While the singer isn’t half-bad, I’m sure he’s embarrassed that this video went viral.

It’s hard to believe now, but once upon a time it was cool to be like Michael Jackson. The 90’s seem like such a different world.
