Corey Haim Tribute Video | ‘The Lost Boys’ Actor Dead At 38 After Accidental Overdose

Posted: 10 Mar 2010 08:21 AM PST

Corey Haim has died at the tender age of just 38 after suffering what is being described as an “accidental overdose.”

Haim was found unconscious by his mother at her apartment in California, and rushed to hospital in Burbank. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

This video is a fan-made tribute to the actor and recalls a happier time in his life when he was one of a new breed of child and teen actors on the scene.

The cause of death hasn’t officially be announced yet but it’s believed to be due to an accidental overdose, with four bottles of prescription drugs found recovered at the scene.

Haim is known to have had serious drink and drug addiction problems over the years, allegedly entering rehab 15 times. But it looks as though it’s a combination of legal medicine which got him in the end.

Haim will hopefully be remembered for the good times rather than the bad, with memorable performances in films such as The Lost Boys being his lasting legacy.

Funny Doug Stanhope Video | Letterman, Leno, And Fox News Are The Same

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 08:30 PM PST

Doug Stanhope has been called the “modern day Bill Hicks” for a good reason. While what he says may offend some people, it gets even more people to laugh and think.

Here’s a funny segment (which he ironically did for a BBC news piece) where he explains that late night talk-show hosts and fear-mongering news networks are in the same bed together.

I don’t know why I never realized this obvious observation before. I’ve been watching Letterman and Leno for years thinking that they were polar opposites of the news networks that they make fun of, but now I realize I was wrong.

The next time you watch Leno or Letterman spout out a “current event joke” notice how they never form a serious opinion or bash the actual news network it came from. Why? Because they don’t really care- it’s just filler for them.

Watch Funny Comedian Jim Jeffries Video | NSFW ‘I Swear to God’ Special

[Warning: This Video Contains Very Strong Language, and Themes Unsuitable For Children]

Jim Jeffries doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to him letting Christians know that he thinks they are wrong and living in a fantasy world…

Well, I’m glad he’s not afraid of death, but I don’t particularly like the idea of rotting in the ground, myself…

I’m not impressed by comedians who feel the need to swear a lot, but I did get a few chuckles out of this video. That is, after wincing because of his first joke.

I wonder how many Christians got up and left the room at that point…

Two Year Old Internet Celebrity Layla Grace Dies From NeuroBlastoma (Tribute Video)

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 06:38 PM PST

Layla Grace Marsh, a girl who won the heart of the internet when her parents detailed her struggle against neuroblastoma (a cancerous tumor that develops from nerve tissue, occuring in infants and children), passed away.

Layla’s parents decided to deal with the struggles of their little girl by raising awareness through tracking her life on Twitter as well as a website.

There is the question arising of whether or not sharing such tragic life stories and moments with complete strangers is the new trend – or even norm – on the internet.

However, the question remains a quiet one – respect for the family and their loss taking precedence.

May little Layla Grace Marsh rest in peace.

Adorable French Animation Video | Laundry Day Was Never This Cute

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 04:13 PM PST

In this animated short, French director Pleix creates a cute and slightly surreal laundry scene.

Bird-like eggs and tennis balls chirp away amongst the socks and underwear. Why? You the hell knows, but it's impossibly adorable.

Well, except for that infernal chirping and cheery soundtrack which pounds relentlessly into your brain. While a large part of me enjoyed this joyous cartoon, the other more sinister part was plotting the demise of these wide eyed characters.

Just imagine it: one of those bouncing balls veers too close to the spin cycle and it’s all over in a great big bloody mess! It might sound terrible, but it’d make the chirping stop!

Cool Apple iPhone App Video | ‘Everyday Looper’ Lets Anyone Form A One Man Band

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 12:57 PM PST

There are many ways to make music with the Apple iPhone, all of which require some simple yet brilliant apps. And they’re usually not even that expensive.

This video showcases the best music iPhone app I’ve yet seen. OK, so the guy is French, which means the singing is a bit painful on the ears at times, but it certainly demonstrates what can be done using the ‘Everyday Looper’ app.

After already having seen videos of people forming a band using just their iPhones and Nintendo DS’s, and seeing a guy moodily recreate John Lennon’s classic Imagine, I didn’t think they could be bettered. But they have, and by quite a margin.

‘Everyday Looper’ only costs $5 in the App Store, and yet it lets anyone with just a hint of musical talent and technical knowhow create a track in their own inimitable one man band style. Which is pretty damn awesome.
