Lena Horne Death Tribute Video | Jazz Singer, Actress & Political Activist Dies At 92

Posted: 10 May 2010 09:20 AM PDT

Lena Horne, a jazz singer, dancer, actress, and political activist, has died at the ripe old age of 92.

Born in 1917, Horne lived through the years when black people were treated as second-class citizens, which somewhat limited her early opportunities, right through until Barack Obama was elected to be President of the United States. Quite a life.

Horne will be remembered by different people for different things. Some will remember her as a jazz singer in her heydays of the 1940s and 1950s, some will remember her as an actress through the 1950s and 1960s, while others still will remember her for pushing for civil rights for all throughout her career.

It’s sad when anyone dies, and when it’s a celebrity known and loved by millions dies it affects a lot of people. However, Lena Horne clearly had a very long and full life, and will be remembered for a long time to come.

Watch Cool ‘Make A Cake’ Stop Motion Animation Video | Surreal Baking

Posted: 09 May 2010 06:33 PM PDT

French artist Alexandre Dubosc creates a strange cake to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival…

This leaves me feeling impressed, slightly disturbed and yet hungry as well. I want some cake.

Stop motion animation is one of my favorite art forms for its often surreal quality and the out of this world things the creators do with it.

I think the ending of this video really nails it for me as a fun and celebratory type of video. Nothing like white chocolate rabbits running around a dark chocolate cake, right?

Now, seriously, does anyone have some cake?

Watch Funny Betty White on SNL Promo Commercial (Video) | Not Quite a Cougar

Saturday Night Live is making history by inviting Betty White to host!

In a strange, but fun, turn of events, Betty White is coming back into the Hollywood spotlight in fun and interesting ways. The best yet? As the host of Saturday Night Live.

I always thought SNL lost something when they lost their core comedians like Mike Myers, Chris Farley and others, but I want to watch this episode!

And I bet NBC is banking on thousands of viewers feeling the same way. Betty is the grandma type but with spunk, so she’ll probably bring in many new viewers.

Bad Piper “Australia’s Got Talent” Audition Video | Bagpipes Have Never Been So Cool

Posted: 09 May 2010 05:06 PM PDT

Australia’s Got Talent is heating up as the Aussie talent competition heads into its final rounds. It’s hard to tell who’ll take out the crown, but I’ve got a soft spot for the edgy bagpiper known as “The Bad Piper.”

His rock and roll tinged take on Nena’s “99 Luftballons” seemed to impress crowds but the judges were unconvinced. That is, until The Bad Piper added some fire into the mix.

With flames blasting from his bagpipes, the bagpiper gave us real rock and roll theatrics. This is the bagpipes played like we haven’t heard since AC/DC brought us “A Long Way to the Top.” And it’s very cool indeed.

Scary Pedobear Robot Video | RIBA Grins While Lifting Children In And Out Of Bed

Posted: 09 May 2010 12:09 PM PDT

Why this video is funny won’t make any sense unless you know something of the Pedobear phenomenon. If you do, then I’m sure you’ll agree this Pedobear robot is a scary innovation.

Pedobear is a funny yet very controversial character that has emerged from the 4chan message board. The posting of an image of Pedobear essentially says, "You're being creepy about a kid."

This robot is called RIBA, and is intended as a fun and useful way of lifting sick or disabled children in and out of bed. But just look at the grinning robot face – does it remind you of anyone?

If you ask me, RIBA has too big a grin on his face as he lifts this kid in and out of bed. He really shouldn’t be enjoying it that much, unless, of course, he is Pedobear in robot form. The dirty bastard has clearly turned to technology to get his kicks.
