Katie Waissel The X Factor Video | She Sings King Of The Swingers From The Jungle Book

I love The Jungle Book and the songs from it. I’m not, however, so keen on Katie Waissel, one of the contestants on this year’s The X Factor (UK). Put the two together and what will happen?

A work of genius, strangely enough. As Waissel unbelievably manages to pull this gamble off. I still don’t particularly like her but this has helped a little and should ensure she survives another week in the competition.

While all the other contestants chose safe, middle-of-the-road numbers for Guilty Pleasures week, Waissel (or more likely, Simon Cowell and his cronies) chose King of The Swingers, a song from an old animated Disney film originally sung by an orangutan.

It shouldn’t work, but it does. And Waissel comes across as a genuine, happy girl who can sing and has the potential to one day be a pop star. It almost makes me forget who Gamu is. Almost, but not quite.

This is the full-length Runaway movie / short film / music video from Kanye West. It’s alright, but nothing special.

I like Kanye West, I really do. And I like his music too. But I’m not buying into all the crap that’s being written about Runaway, his new short film which some commentators are describing as “genius” and “a work of art.”

You’d think Kanye was the new Martin Scorsese or Quentin Tarantino the way people are going on. He’s not even the new Michael Jackson, so let’s not kid ourselves or make his ego grow any larger.

Runaway is OK, but most of it is pretentious crap that could only have come from the mind of someone who keeps getting told how brilliant he is, even if the people doing the brown-nosing are lackeys paid for doing just that.

Watch Runaway by all means. Some of you will like it, others will not. But let none of us go over the top about how it makes Kanye some sort of second coming. Because he’s not. He’s a rapper, and a singer, and a celebrity. And that is all.

“Oops” Dropped Camera Short Film Video | Awesome Award Winning Experimental Movie

Independent films are all about pushing the boundaries and getting creative. This clever short film Oops does just that, and recently took out the best experimental category at the Vimeo Awards.

The concept is very simple. Found footage from cameras that were accidentally dropped or destroyed is pieced together to create a montage of snapshots of daily life.

As they say, often the simplest things in life are the best. The idea might be basic, but I’ve never seen it executed before. I’d say it’s only a matter of time before we see it ripped off by a major advertising agency!

Foxy Shazam ‘Unstoppable’ Music Video | Like Queen With Cocain & A Trumpet

I recently was dragged to a Foxy Shazam concert with one of my friends fully expecting to not enjoy myself. Although I hadn’t listened to their music before, their pink shirts, tight pants, and random trumpets were off-putting to say the least.

Of course, I was shocked to see how energetic their performance was, and the same can be said for this music video. Could Foxy Shazam be the next Queen?

The saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” is certainly something to keep in mind when it comes to Foxy Shazam. In a musical era where most bands are just trying to copy the latest trend, these guys stand out.

If you ever happen to see Foxy Shazam in concert, you’re in for some crazy antics by lead-singer Eric Sean Nally. At the particular concert I was at, he ate 5 cigarettes, sung his lines upside-down, and jumped around the stage constantly- all while managing to still hit his notes perfectly.

So what’s new about the latest MacBook Air? A 7-hour battery life and flash storage.

But just in case you’re a Apple fanboy and want to spend 5 minutes gawking over the other obvious details, feel free to watch the complete promo above.

After the iPad came out for around $800 and Apple reported earning over $4.6 billion last year, I hoped that they would finally start producing cheaper portable computers. While this new MacBook is certainly faster and smaller than most laptops it’s still around $1000.

Call me crazy, but I’ll take a 2.4ghz duo core 250GB MacBook Pro over the new 1.4ghz 64GB Air any day at the same price. I fully expect Apple to do a “dramatic” price drop within the next year to generate more buzz.

Cute Kitten Video | This Will Melt Your Heart

Life is depressing. But no problem is too big, no issue too complicated, that it can’t all be put into perspective by a video of a kitten eating a tiny ice cream.

Is it me or does life pretty much suck these days? I spend most of my time miserable, but maybe that is just me. But what with war, over-population, lack of affordable housing, and all the diseases that can kill you, it’s sometimes hard to stay positive.

But there is a solution, and it merely involved watching a cute (possibly the cutest) kitten eating a small ice cream cone while wearing a tiny hat, before it gets bored and wanders off.

I challenge you to watch this video and not feel even slightly better about yourself or life in general. Just don’t think about the fact that this kitten probably got kicked out on the street to fend for itself straight afterwards…

Oh damn.
