eBay watch: 1970s Krups wall clock

Posted: 20 Nov 2010 06:16 AM PST

Krups

A great, eye-catching design - and this Krups wall clock is still modestly priced, despite some initial interest.

The clock is from the 1970s, with the colour of the plastic described as 'forest green', with a black circular face, a perspex screen and hands on white plastic, with red plastic for the seconds. It also has the original Krups label.

Condition is described as 'very good' and crucially, it's down as being in full working order. £17 is the current price, which seems very reasonable.

Alega 1970s table lamp by Vico Magistretti

Posted: 20 Nov 2010 03:59 AM PST

Alega

Not an obvious vintage design to reissue, but the Alega table lamp by Vico Magistretti has been reissued by Vistosi.

It's a very simple, possibly timeless design from 1970 - but there's more to it than might meet the eye. That shade is white blown glass for example, while the base is in crystal glass.

Powered by 3 x 40W bulbs, you can pick one up for £380.

Gainsbourg heads to DVD and Blu-ray

Gainsbourg1

Not long out of the cinema, the recent biopic of Serge Gainsbourg, which went by the name of Gainsbourg, is heading to DVD and Blu-ray in a matter of weeks.

Both are set for release on 10th January 2011, so you might want to save some of your Christmas money if you were a fan of the movie when it went round the cinemas - or you missed it first time round. It had mixed reviews, some people loving it, others disappointed - but if you're still reading now, I suspect you're one of the former.

Gainsbourg2

According to the details we've been sent, both discs have the same extras, including some behind the scenes footage, an exclusive interview with writer / director Joann Sfar and Eric Elmosnino (Serge), plus a further interview with Joann Sfar and the original trailer.

Of course, the Blu-ray version will also be in high definition. Both versions are available to pre-order now at Amazon, with the DVD discounted to £11.99, the Blu-ray down to £15.99.

Manchester Musical History Tour book by Phill Gatenby and Craig Gill

Posted: 20 Nov 2010 01:49 AM PST

Manc

If you happen to a local of Manchester or fancy a trip there sometime soon, you can find out about the city's musical heritage with Manchester Musical History Tour by Phill Gatenby and Craig Gill.

Not an obvious choice, not least because much of the 'heritage' has been flattened over time. But there's plenty there if you look closely. This particular book claims to show you all the key venues and clubs of the city's past, as well as other locations connected to acts over the last 50 years. So expect the Twisted Wheel venues for example, but  more likely, expect a heavy focus on the last 30 years - lots of Smiths, New Order, Joy Division and acid house you would imagine.

Filling 160 pages, the book is available to pre-order now, priced at £5.96 and out on 1st December 2010.
