Gene Shalit Retires Video | The Today Show Movie Critic Reviews ‘Funny People’… Badly Posted: 11 Nov 2010 07:41 AM PST Gene Shalit has left The Today Show, retiring from television at the age of 85 after 40 years reviewing movies.
Every critic, be it of films, TV, music, or pop culture ends up losing their ability to give a fair, unbiased appraisal of things. It’s an age thing, I believe, and it’ll even hit me one day. It’s for this reason that I’m not that sad to see Gene Shalit leave The Today Show. Like Roger Ebert, he’s now become too old and out of the loop to really have a handle on what is good and bad. I know that sounds ageist but it’s actually not. It’s just that people are brought up in certain eras and the thinking of that time stays with them for a long time. This video of Shalit reviewing Funny People is a prime example. Because it’s clear he just doesn’t get the movie. At all. Happy retirement, Shalit, the time for your departure was definitely ripe. |
Watch Oldest Man-Made Structure on Earth ‘Adam’s Calendar’ Video | 75000 Year Old South African Site Posted: 11 Nov 2010 07:02 AM PST “Michael Tellinger… talks about the discovery of the oldest man-made structure on Earth, around 75,000 years old. A new book by Johan Heine and Michael Tellinger outlines the events that led to this discovery in South Africa by explorer/pilot Johan Heine.” If you thought Gobekli Tepe was impressive at nearly 12000 years old, then you’ll really be impressed by this. I am always impressed by the people who find these sorts of structures because when I just look at them, I don’t see anything special. But then they begin to point out relationships, angles of degrees, line ups with constellations… …and I sit back wondering how I didn’t see it before. |
Funny & Clever Football Trick Play (Video) | Middle School Team Gets Owned Posted: 10 Nov 2010 08:03 PM PST I seriously doubt that this type of play would work in the NFL, but i’m glad it worked out for these kids. The opposing team must be training for revenge right now- the fact that a play like this worked is just embarrassing! Even attempting this play takes balls of steal, after all, now that everyone knows this trick they can never use it again. |
Lil Wayne Gets Out Of Jail (Video) | Hitler Parody and MTV Interview Posted: 10 Nov 2010 08:01 PM PST It’s been 8 months since Lil Wayne went to jail and now that he’s finally out a few people are ticked. Hitler, for example, appears to be very angry in this video due to the fact that his MySpace hasn’t gotten any views in the past week. It’s been done to death, but a Hitler parody for hip-hop fans needed to be done. MTV InterviewAs far as I know this is the first “interview” that Weezy has been in since his release. Although he usually has a lot to say about himself, he appears to be very humble here. |
Amazing Animation Video… Not | Colin’s Bear Animation Shows College Course Skills Posted: 10 Nov 2010 12:10 PM PST This video is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I don’t know why it is, because there’s really not much going on, but it makes me crack up with laughter every single time I watch it.
The video, titled Colin’s Bear Animation, is funny enough on its own with any explanation of its origin. The music helps immensely, but it’s the bear’s movement that tip me over the edge. But then it gets better, and funnier, when you read the background. This is one guy’s final exam piece for an Animated Arts college course. This is the best animation he could come up with using the techniques he was taught. And he got an A for this piece of work! There are tribute videos of this worth checking out as well, one featuring a giraffe and one featuring a dinosaur. They’re all hilarious. |
