Smiths-inspired How Soon Is Now? t-shirt by Sometimes

How

It's the kind of garment you'd probably expect to see in a university bar or sixth form common room in the mid-80s, but this How Soon Is Now? t-shirt by Sometimes is actually a new item.

If you haven't guessed, the words on the front of the t-shirt are a selection from The Smiths' How Soon Is Now? track, so you can share Morrissey's misery wherever you are. Just as long as you buy the t-shirt.

As far as we know, it's only available from the US, but let us know if that's not the case. It retails for $32.

The Woodstock Experience Multimedia Boxset was actually released in 2009, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the festival, but we must have missed it then.

The set is an official product, created with the assistance of Woodstock Executive Producer Michael Lang and was published as a signed limited edition of only 1,000 copies. Supplied in a handmade case, it consists of an authorised history by 60 musicians, staff and audience members, illustrated by Woodstock's official photographer, Henry Diltz, unseen photography of Dan Garson, a 7" vinyl record and a fine art print by Peter Max and an authentic Woodstock ticket.

Amazon and Paul Smith both have two copies each in stock, priced £395.

There are undoubtedly other Union Jack rugs out there, but the Jack Rug from the Big Rug Store is just that little bit more stylish.

Rather than the usual view of the flag, here just a corner detail is used, and the stripes aren't entirely straight, giving the impression of a flag blowing in the breeze. It is made from 100% wool and is available in a choice of sizes; 120 x 180 cm, 150 x 240 cm or 180 x 270 cm.

Prices range from £259.00 to £519.00. Buy it online at the Big Rug Store.

eBay watch: 1970s space age Rosita Stereo Commander Luxus hi-fi system

Posted: 13 Jan 2011 07:19 AM PST

Lux1

I trawl eBay most days, but I have to say, this Rosita Stereo Commander Luxus hi-fi system is one of the best audio systems I've ever seen on the site.

Made in (West) Germany by Rosita in the 1970s, it mixes period style with audio know-how. Sat on that chromed 'tulip' base is a wood unit, grey transparent cover and integrated speakers, as well as the audio functionality. That includes a Philips record player, a cassette player by the same company and a front-facing radio with slide controls. It even comes with all the relevant instruction manuals.

Hopefully the photo does it justice. if not, check out a close-up over the page or the numerous images on the listing. It's described as 'working' and 'original unrestored condition', as well as 'very-well tended'. Which probably explains the price. The seller is looking for £1,699 - or you can make an offer.

For sale: 1960s midcentury four-bedroomed house in Bishop's Stortford, Herts

Posted: 13 Jan 2011 06:49 AM PST

Bish1

It's a house that looks better on the inside than out, at least, according to the images we've seen - but this 1960s midcentury four-bedroomed house in Bishop's Stortford, Herts is certainly architecturally important and of course, on the market right now.

It's lack of striking exterior is actually down to the design. The work of Cambridge-based practice Lyster, Grillet & Harding in the late 1960s, this single-storey house is situated on an elevated site, with a large garage / storage space at street level and a designer set of stairs with an overhead canopy, taking you to the terrace, the gardens and the main house.

The house still has original features, including hardwood ceilings, exposed brick walls, parquet flooring and custom-built storage. But there's also been some modernising since the original build - double glazing, rewiring and re-plumbing included. Modern kitchen and bathroom too, of that kind of thing is important.

In terms of layout, you get the central feature of a large living /  dining room, four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a study / reception hall, a south-facing terrace at the front of the property and a grass lawn at the rear, plus of course, that lower storage / garage.

If you like the idea of midcentury-style living, but with all the trappings of a modern-day property, this might well appeal. But you'll need the best part of £595,000 to get it. More photos at the agent's site.

San Francisco lomo art photograph

San francisco

Truly a special piece for anyone familiar with this great city. This lomo art photograph of San Francisco was taken with a vintage camera, using film that is no longer in production. There are three prints of 16 x 16 inches available or other sizes can be made to order.

A larger verson of the famous image, featuring downtown San Fancisco with a view across the bay, was recently on display with RAW Artists at Cinespace in Hollywood.

Even it's creation, by hand in a darkroom with an enlarger and trays, gives this unique photo a retro aura and if you're as taken by this image as we are, get your very own on Etsy, for £82.51, made by Tara Holland. Prints are made to order, and will take a minimum of three weeks to arrive with extra costs for posting to the UK, find out more on the Etsy website.
