Slash Neck Jersey Dress from Marks and Spencer

Marks and Spencer might be last on most people's list of places to look for a vampish retro look, but you can count yourself pleasantly surprised thanks to this Stripe Jersey Dress from their new collection. Taking inspiration from an early sixties style, this is a dress to turn heads.

The jersey fabric is the ideal choice to enhance the wiggle dress style of this piece, with the contrasting stripe and black panelling creating killer curves too. The high slashed neckline ideally balances a slinky fitted bodice, while capped sleeves add some youthful appeal.

It's now available from Marks and Spencer for £45.

Power Shoulder Blazer from ASOS

Powershoulder

While the kids were getting all the wear possible out of neon brights and legwarmers, the eighties is a decade perhaps best known for its executive fashion. Power dressing for women truly defined the workplace's look, with suiting taking on new and striking shapes.

This Power Shoulder Blazer from ASOS really captures the essence of the look well, without veering into exaggeration. The padded shoulders create the perfect silhouette, balanced by a neatly tailored bodice with double buttoned waist. Available in two colours, it's the rich navy that really rounds of this retro look.

Get it online from ASOS now from £35.

Size? exclusive Adidas Montreal trainers in brown now available to buy

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 08:55 AM PST

Mont1

We previewed them a few weeks back, but now you can buy the exclusive Size? reissue of the Adidas Montreal trainers in brown.

As we said back then, they're loosely based on the Gazelle design, but with a distinctive collapsible heel that was designed to allow footballers to get the shoe on and off easily after training. Indeed, it's actually classed as a kind of 'clog' for that very reason - even if it isn't one.

The latest colour option is down as brown and white, but looks more like a brown and beige to us, sat on top of that textured / matching gum sole unit.

Stock is likely to fly out. £61.99 is the price.

House Doctor DK Pallet Coffee Table

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 08:30 AM PST

1150
Designed to look like it is made from a recycled pallet, but probably made from new materials, the Pallet Coffee Table nonetheless embraces the industrial chic style.

The table measures 64cm by 44cm and stands at 35cm high and like a pallet, it has metal wheels to make moving it around the room easy. It is made by House Doctor in Denmark so will take 2 to 3 weeks to deliver.

Order it from Bodie and Fou, priced £550.

Montgomery Cirrus Fabric

Montgomery specialises in curtain, of both the ready-made and made-to-measure varieties. Amongst their huge selection of fabrics, I spotted the Cirrus Fabric, a design inspired by 1950s textiles.

Cirrus features a leaf-like pattern and is available in a choice of five colour options which are in keeping with the 50s design; red, green/blue, gold/grey, terracotta or teal/mustard. Having picked your colour, what you do with the fabric could include having it made into curtains, roman blinds, tie-backs or cushion covers.

The fabric costs £15 per metre. Visit the Montgomery website for further information.

Pina bread bag from Zara Home

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 05:16 AM PST

Pina
Zara Home isn't normally known for their retro-inspired designs but this Pina bread bag is a pleasant exception to their usual style.

The bag is decorated with an original print that's full of 1950s charm. The print depicts suitably foodie images, such as a fruit bowl and a pepper mill and vinegar bottle. It's executed in a simple colour scheme of greens, browns and black which adds to the vintage feel.

The bread bag is made from a flax/linen and cotton mix and, if you like this print, it's also available on oven gloves and a tea towel.

The bag costs £19.99.

eBay watch: English Rose 1950s kitchen units

The English Rose of Warwick kitchen is a 1950s British design classic. The units, which were manufactured by the same company who made the nose cones for the Spitfire, were built to the highest standards and made to last.

This particular set is in the iconic cream and red combination. From the photos, it would seem the units require a little TLC but, with these complete sets becoming more sought after, this is a great opportunity to grab a slice of 50s nostalgia. If you fancy something a little different from the usual DIY store fitted kitchen, it's currently at £251 and is available for pick up only from Pembrokeshire.

Hollywood floor lamp from Marks and Spencer

Floor lamp

Always fancied yourself as a bit of a star from the golden age of cinema? While that may not be a very realistic daydream, you can at least capture some of the glamour from that era with this Hollywood floor lamp from Marks and Spencer

The lamp mimics the look of an old-fashioned spotlight with its large metal round shade and tripod legs. Top that off with the chrome finish and surely - at least in lighting terms - you will be ready for your close-up.

The lamp costs £99.
