Cherry Spot Cardigan from New Look

Cherryspot

In chillier months it's an absolute must to include a well chosen cover up with every retro ensemble, something that compliments the look without distracting from that perfect frock. This Cherry Spot Cardigan is a simple and versatile choice with New Look's usual affordability.

The skinny knit allows for a feminine fit that won't spoil the overall feel of an outfit, with the cutesy cherry print providing an extra element of retro kitsch. Ideal for a Spring fifties look, the white background makes this versatile enough to wear day or night.

It's available now from New Look for £19.99.

Stripe Curved Hem Dress from Warehouse

Stripecurve

With many mid-sixties inspired pieces today leaning on a heavily structured, sharp look, there's often little choice for more relaxed occasions. That's where pieces like this Stripe Curved Hem Dress from Warehouse step in, with a laid back and wearable style.

The use of a jersey cotton blend fabric means this dress is comfortable, but that doesn't mean it compromises on the look. A bold wide striped print, in vibrant red and white, has an easy sixties inspired look, while the mini hemline ensures femininity.

Get it now from Warehouse for £40.

Samba_suede

If plain, simple and classic is your idea of a good pair of trainers, you just might appreciate the latest reissue of the Adidas Samba Suede.

Very much back to basics with the original black and white colour scheme, gold detailing and branding, a premium suede upper, white contrast sole and white laces.

No rarity value, but the upside of that is a £49 price tag.

eBay watch 4x 1960s Anvia table and wall lamps

Posted: 16 Feb 2011 08:50 AM PST

Anvia

Not one quirky piece of 1960s lighting, you get four if you successfully bid on these Anvia table and wall lamps.

Full of early-to-mid 1960s charm, the metal lamps, two wall and two table/desk, were apparently originally sold as a set 'back in the day' and this set, amazingly, remains intact.

In fact, according to the seller, the lamps are in 'near perfect' condition, with no dents or rusting. See the listing for more detailed shots, with the price at just 1 pence now, although there's still plenty of time to go.

Riess Enamel Pans

Pans_medium

Both beautiful and useful these Riess Enamel Pans will add a pop of retro colour and style to any kitchen.

The pans come in a choice of three delicious ice-cream colours which contrast with a cream lip and interior. They are manufactured from enamel on steel and have long handles with a hole for hanging - these beauties should be out on display, not stuffed in a cupboard!

The Riess Factory in Austria has been producing enamelware for over two hundred years and is a fantastic model for sustainable industry. It's powered by it's own hydro-electric plants and also recycles as much waste as possible, from steel offcuts to enamel paints.

The pans cost from £18-£20 each and are available from Objects of Use

Egloo Telephone Box salt and pepper set by David Roberts

Egloo

This Egloo Telephone Box salt and pepper set by David Roberts mixes the very traditional with the contemporary.

The 'Egloo' is Roberts's word to describe the shape of his shakers: a mixture of egg and igloo. Their unusual shape contrasts to the image depicted on each one, which offers a small piece of nostalgia for your kichen table. For example, in the set pictured, the egloos feature a classic red phone box while another design shows a traditional London guard.

The Egloos cost £18.

Never Mind Your P's and Q's Punk alphabet book

Posted: 16 Feb 2011 05:03 AM PST

Punk alphabet
For an alternative version of the alphabet, check out this Never Mind Your P's and Q's Punk alphabet book.

Yes, it's an alternative version of the alphabet all based around Punk, produced by American based Soundscreen design. Their B is for Blondie, I is for Iggy, M is for Mohawk and R is for the Ramones and so on. Each letter has its own illustration and short verse. Keeping it slightly true to the spirit of Punk, the book is sold with the warning that it features words and references some people might not find appropriate - we wouldn't have it any other way!

Soundscreen design have produced two other 'Rockin' Alphabets': 'M is for Metal' and 'ABC & Western', both of which are pretty self-explanatory in their choice of genres.

The book costs £19.

Newgate Vision Wall Clock

Another great retro clock design from Newgate - the Vision Wall Clock.

This clock has been designed in a 1970s style and combines acrylic numbers with chrome spokes. It is available with the numbers and spokes in black and hands in red, or with reversed (as pictured). Apparently it has been seen in Hollyoaks (which may be a plus or a minus point depending on your opinion of the teen soap).

It costs £50 directly from Newgate.

Emily and Fin Palm Print Lucy Dress

Palm_dress
Forget that it's cold and grey outside and invest in a slice of summer with this fifties style Palm Print Dress from Emily and Fin.

The dress has a classic shape; sleeveless, with a high neckline and distinct waistband which gives way to a full skirt for a feminine retro silhouette. The monochrome print means there's no need to wait to start wearing this out - it will go just as well with black tights and a cardigan now as it will with bare legs and wedges once the weather warms up.

The dress wil be available from www.pretaportobello.com from early March but you can preorder it now - click here for more details.

Royal Albert 1970s Poppy range

Posted: 16 Feb 2011 02:11 AM PST

To celebrate the centenary of the Royal Albert China Company, Royal Doulton has reproduced a design from each decade, which includes a range in the 1970s Poppy pattern.

The design features a poppy flower surrounded by green leaves, with the china finished with nine carat gold trim. The range includes a mug, teapot, 3-piece tea set and plates. My favourite item is this hostess set - essentially a teacup on an extended saucer, which leaves a space for a slice of cake or biscuit (or two).

The collection is available to buy from Selfridges, where prices range from £20 to £125.
