Dita Von Teese designs for Wheels & Dollbaby

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 11:06 AM PDT

Ditawheelsdollbaby

There may be some debate about whether or not burlesque's journey into the mainstream is a good thing, but there's few who can deny the credentials of the scene's current darling, Dita von Teese. With proven retro credentials, she's turned her hand to fashion once more with designs for Wheels & Dollbaby.

This Dita's Closet Embroidered Cardigan has unmistakeable vintage inspiration, with a chic fit and skinny knit wool. The bow-fastening high collar and three quarter length sleeves tread the line between demure and daring well, allowing for the skinny fit to create sex appeal. Finished with fifties floral embroidery, this is not just any cardigan.

It's available online from ASOS now for £150.

eBay watch: 1970s Raphael Raffel space age Plexi Ball Chair

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 09:09 AM PDT

Raffel

This is actually one of two being sold by the seller, one of two Raphael Raffel space age Plexi Ball Chairs that is.

It's a fantastic 1970s space age design out of France, made of smoked plexi glass for the outer, with synthetic brown leather for the inner seating, finished off with that tulip-style base.

Condition is down as 'good', as well as being in 'original and unrestored' condition, so a few scratches and some wear to the upholstery. See the close-up images for the lowdown. No doubt this is a rare design, with a price to reflect that - £604.25 or you can make an offer.

An East London Companion - new retro-inspired map by Herb Lester Associates

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 08:54 AM PDT

East_london

We have featured the previous vintage-style maps by Herb Lester Associates and if you liked those, we're pretty sure you'll love the new one, An East London Companion.

According to the folk behind this, a lot of time has been put into this particular project, a guide to East London shops, cafés, bars, pubs, butchers, bakers and even a candlestick maker. There are 99 entries in total, from an area stretching from Old Street to Hackney Wick. Some of those will be unfamiliar even to locals. Boi Gordo, Casa Mexico and Mama Vic's are apparently all 'real finds', and while Labour And Wait, Present and Pizza East may be better known, they're certainly deserving of a mention on the map.

It was designed and illustrated in east London, litho printed on recycled paper.  £4 gets you one. See over the page for a brief glimpse inside.

Keith Haring's instantly identifiable style has cropped up a lot over the years on this site. Ikea's Slatthult aren't even the first time we've featured his style on decoration stickers - long time readers of the site may remember these decals from Supernice we featured a few years back. However, as you might expect, Ikea's pricing is the cheapest option by far.

Each pack contains the 14 stickers shown above, indicitive of Haring's art, itself influenced by 70s and 80s street.

And that price? A pack sells for just £7.99.

Andy Warhol for Incase

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 05:36 AM PDT

Warhol-snap-cases
Everyone's favourite Pop artist is now available to add a touch of style to your favourite technology, thanks to the Andy Warhol for Incase range.

It's a range of cases, sleeves and bags for the iPhone, iPad and Mac Book featuring Warhol's artwork. The first few items of the range are based around the banana image produced for the Velvet Underground and Nico album in 1966 and his take on camouflage, with more designs to follow. The range has been authorized by the Andy Warhol Foundation who argue Warhol's fascination with technology means, if alive today, he would have been an avid fan and devourer of these products.

With some products available now and some ready for pre-order, prices start at $49.95 for a snapcase for the iPhone 4.

Linea Adelphi midcentury-style armchair at House of Fraser

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 05:25 AM PDT

Adelphi

Yes, yet another midcentury-inspired design from the current House of Fraser range - the Adelphi armchair.

It's a classic armchair that takes the 1950s for its inspiration and is exclusive to the House of Fraser store. For your money, you get that high back, slightly curved arms, stained and angled legs plus a finish in a lime green fabric. Good back support too apparently, if that's important to you.

It was £399, but £299 is the current price.

No self respecting 1950s fashionista would dare be seen without a lucite handbag. Sold only in the high end department stores, these unique pieces adorned the arms of the glamourous ladies of the day in a wide variety of colours & shapes. Miss L Fire has designed a range of reproduction Lucite handbags that would fool even the most ardent collector. Every detail has been thought of, from the clasps to the engraving, creating an authentic 50s look suitable for any budding starlet. Available in a variety of colours & styles.

The Lucite Handbags are available from £56.99 from What Katie Did in store and online.

My first instinct on see the Anatomica range was to recoil in horror, but on further investigation it is an interesting collection.

Designed b y Lisa Turner for The New English, the collection consists of breakfast, cake and bread plates, mugs and tea cup and saucer sets. The design is inspired by the 19th century's newly discovered fascination with the human body and shows a Victorian gentleman with his inner workings exposed. Prices start from £18 for a mug up to £69 for a coffee cup and saucer.
