X-Men First Class - New posters and trailers |
Here are some new images including international posters for X-Men: First Class via i09:
In case this film gets lost in the shuffle of other superhero flicks such as Thor, Captain America, Thor and Green Lantern, X-Men: First Class is a period film that explores the formation of the School for Gifted youngsters in the early 1960's. Starting with the initial meeting of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, the movie could be the start of a new X-Men franchise set before the 2000 movie by director Bryan Singer (taking up the producer reigns on this one).
Michael Fassbender stars as Magneto, Rose Byrne plays Dr. Moira MacTaggert, January Jones plays The White Queen Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng plays Azazel. Nicholas Hoult plays Beast, Lucas Till plays Havok, Zoe Kravitz plays Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence plays Mystique, James McAvoy stars as Professor Charles Xavier. Other mutants include Darwin (Edi Gathegi), Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones) and (Tony Rich ) Mimic.
Kevin Bacon stars as Sebastian Shaw, the leader of the Hellfire Club, a secret organization set to take over the world.
The Matthew Vaughn directed film has met with some controversy as it was apparently rushed into production with several re-shoots hurriedly called for by the studio at the last minute. Vaughn (director of cult films Snatch and Neil Gaiman's Stardust) has met the accusations by stating that his intentions are to honor the comic book series and is looking to create the best film adaptation of the popular series.
The trailers to date have supported Vaughn's case, and here are three more (again, via i09)
