Bow Court Shoes from Miss Selfridge Posted: 06 Jun 2011 09:55 AM PDT Now that there's often more of a reliable gap between rainy days there's no excuse not to indulge in some truly stylish footwear options, especially when there's some delightful retro influence on show. These Slick Bow Courts from Miss Selfridge are ideal for pairing with fifties and sixties looks to create a chic, complete look. The shoes are simple but flawless in their construction, with a classic stiletto heel and no fussy modern platform to contend with. High Waisted Culottes from Lipsy Posted: 06 Jun 2011 09:54 AM PDT Culottes are an item that many of us unfondly associate with childhood, remembering some very dubious eighties styles that eventually caused the wide-legged short to disappear for many a year. Thankfully the current crop of high street designers are going further back into fashion history for inspiration, as seen in items like these High Waisted Culottes from Lipsy. With a light and summery feel, this pair takes inspiration from the 1960s to combine a flowing wide-legged short with a structured high waistline and feminine daisy print fabric. The addition of matelot-style buttons at the waist lends another simple retro element too. They're now available from Lipsy for £35. |

Up for auction: Melville Aubin-designed Sunpark 1930s art deco house in Brixham, Devon Posted: 06 Jun 2011 05:48 AM PDT Regular readers will remember we featured this house around 18 months back, when it first went up for sale. Well, for any number of reasons, this stunning Melville Aubin-designed Sunpark 1930s art deco house in Brixham, Devon didn't sell - and is now heading to auction at a much-reduced guide price. In terms of rooms, there are two entrance halls, a dining room, sitting room and kitchen downstairs, with the first floor offering a landing, three bedrooms, a study, bathroom and cloakroom. There's also a roof terrace, walled garden and an outside toilet, that last feature perhaps indicating that it might well need a bit of modernising. Sympathetically ideally. Originally it was on the market for £695,000. But when it goes to auction on June 22nd at the Legacy International Hotel in Plymouth, the guide price is a much-reduced £450,000.
