Gold Signet Anchor Ring from Balenciaga

Signetanchor

Thanks in part to Sailor Jerry's now iconic tattoo designs, nautical emblems have now become an unmistakeable part of retro fashion culture, inspiring prints and logos throughout fifties inspired clothing. This Gold Signet Anchor Ring from Balenciaga allows a subtle nod to fifties style that can be paired with any outfit.

Made from brass, the yellow gold shade has an instantly vintage look, with the signet design tying into the ring's nautical inspiration too. The engraved anchor design is simple and classic, drawing on a retro feel without looking cartoonish or over the top.

It's available online from Matches Fashion for £225.

Suede Biker Jacket from Miss Selfridge

Tansuede

Biker jackets for women are a style most often associated with eighties style, but their incorporation into womenswear started with girls way back in the 1950s. Taking inspiration from menswear, more feminine versions were to be found from the sixties onwards.

This Suede Biker Jacket from Miss Selfridge adds a feminine seventies feel to the style, eschewing the usual leather for a deep tan suede fabric. The fitted cut doesn't lose its tough edge, with a side-fastening zip front and wide button down lapels.

You can get yours from Miss Selfridge now for £95.

Sf_lgred_bigbest
Artist John Christopher uses vintage wood and metal type to create unique letterpress prints including this one, part of his acclaimed Shipping Forecast project.

As well as using traditional painstaking methods which display tiny imperfections in the type and make each print unique; Gale Warning commemorates a significant event in British modern history: the great storm of 1987. Visually documenting the predicted wind-force, direction and air pressure of that memorable night, this work is hand-printed on to four separate sheets which have a total length of 2.1 metres.

The print costs £400 unframed and you can buy it from Unlimited Editions here

Just like the original, the Mini version has a solid steel frame with a powder coating and is suitable for use outdoors – the only difference being that this one is child-size. It is available in a choice of light blue, yellow or black.

It costs 135 Euros if you buy it directly from Oficina Kreativa.

John Lewis are upping the ante in the style stakes at the moment, thanks to a sunglass collection featuring collaborations with hip designers, including Eley Kishimoto.

With a nod to the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers these glasses have square lenses and retro style aplenty. The white frames have a red inner, picked out with a double red stripe along the arm. Typical of Eley Kishmimoto's simple, timeless style, these shades will last you through this season and beyond.

The glasses are limited edition and available either online or in-store for a very reasonable £65.

eBay watch: 1978 Volkswagen Beetle Jubilee Edition - the last-ever Beetle made for the UK market

Posted: 15 Jun 2011 05:41 AM PDT

Beet1

It's not cheap, but this 1978 Volkswagen Beetle Jubilee Edition is a one of a kind. According to the seller, it's the last-ever original VW Beetle built for the UK market.

Here's the story. In 1978, the last 300 Beetles were built for the UK market, each one labelled and numbered to that effect. Number one was kept in a museum on Germany. This is number 300, the very last one.

Beet2

It was won in a competition and has been maintained by the owners since. Stored away from 1978 to 1986, original carpets stored separately and mileage seriously limited. There's just 25,000 on the clock since new.

Some chrome has been replaced with chrome of the same quality, but other than that, this is all original and of course, right-hand drive. If you have the money and the garage space, this is certainly an investment, albeit one that doesn't come cheap. £14,995 is the asking price on eBay - or you can make an offer. See the listing for many more images.

Robot alarm clock from Habitat

Robot alarm clock

This robot alarm clock from Habitat is a great piece of fun retro design for your kids - or just yourself.

The robot stands at just over 11cm high and is made from plastic. As well as looking good, he's got the added bonus of a clock in his stomach - and an alarm to go with it. This blue hatted robot is our favourite but Habitat is also stocking a slightly crazed looking pink robot alarm clock too.

They're both currently reduced in price to £8.

Laver

Not the most regular reissue on the Adidas roster, the Adidas Rod Laver trainers have been reissued just in time for Wimbledon.

From that (and the name), you'll have gathered that this was a tennis shoe when it landed in 1970, returning here in an appropriate white with green, as well as with a mesh upper, suede toe box, contrasting vulcanised sole and classic branding.

Limited edition, £55 is the price.
