Fonteyn midcentury-style desk by Steuart Padwick for Made.com

Regular readers might recall that we recently featured the Fonteyn dressing table, which was available at Made.com. Well, that same site has a variation on the theme in the form of this Fonteyn desk by Steuart Padwick.

Another exclusive to the online design site, it's one of the coolest desks we've seen for a long time. Taking the midcentury era for inspiration, the Fonteyn desk is made of oak and walnut, with those tapered legs mixing it with the curved of the actual desk, finished off with a couple of drawers and a clear lacquer to show off the grain of the wood. Perfect for letter writing or a laptop we think.

The full price is £1,100, but as ever, if you order within the limited period at Made.com, you get get it for much, much less. How much? £279 if you order in the next six days.

eBay watch: Dijkstra 1970s floor / table lamp

Posted: 27 Jun 2011 09:31 AM PDT

Djik

A great piece of 1970s design for not a lot of cash so far on eBay - this Dijkstra floor / table lamp.

Very much in that 'Guzzini' style, it's not quite a full-sized floor lamp at 114cm tall, but is probably something of an oversized table lamp too. Should work as either though. The lamp has a double-layered shade which gives off an orange glow when illuminated, with the height of the shade able to adjust on the chromed stem.

The lamp uses two bulbs and is said to be in 'very good condition', with no obvious damage, such as cracks or wear. Right now, it's at just 1 pence.

Bel1

If you happen to be house hunting in mainland Europe, here's a very stylish property - a 1950s modernist three-bedroomed house by Willy Van Der Meeren in Teralfene, near Brussels in Belgium.

Van Der Meeren design it back in 1958 and while not listed in its native country, it is described as 'valuable heritage', which is pretty much the next best thing.

Bel2

It's not in original condition, the property was upgraded in 2010 by the present owners. But if anything, the renovation has enhanced the period features, throwing in some modern comforts for good measure.

In terms of accommodation, you get those three bedrooms, plus a living room, dining room, study, kitchen, utility room and bathroom. There's also a garage and gardens, with a wall hiding the property from passers-by.

Bel3

It's on the market for around the 400,000 Euros mark. See the site for more images.

Is that plastic

Yoyo ceramics are well-known for their take on design classics, such as the Yoyomaker range: an update of the classic Homemaker pattern. For their latest range Is that plastic too? they look to the designs of the seventies.

The range includes a reinterpretation of a classic thermos flask, a tupperware just and camping mugs - all recreated in ceramic and decorated in a pattern inspired by another household object - the jay cloth. Even better is the range is entirely dishwasher proof.

Prices start at £15 for the mugs.

Gold Cassette Watch by EOS New York

Cassette
Cassettes may be a dead format to the uninitiated masses but we still love them and it seems that the good people at EOS New York do too.

This 80s-tastic Gold Cassette Watch is a fittingly fabulous tribute to our beloved tapes. Every tiny detail has been thought of, from the laser-etched details on the watch face (extra Brownie points for the cute retro robot in the bottom corner!), to the moving reels that rotate the tape fully every 60 minutes. The only downside is you can't record all your favourite tunes onto it but we can't have everything.

If you love it as much as we do, it can be yours for £120 from Harvey Nichols. See their website for more details.
