Deniz Tek and Art and Steve Godoy will be playing in Brooklyn at the end of August.... I received an invitation for Deniz to play in NYC and sent it to him... Deniz then sent me this update today... From Deniz: Coincidentally, I have just booked the following gigs: Aug 26th: Bell House, Brooklyn BUY TICKETS Aug 27th: Maxwell's, Hoboken BUY TICKETS Band is me, plus the Godoys. On the bill also is: Ivan Julian (from Richard Hell and the VoidOids) Will be doing a mix of Radio Birdman and Deniz Tek solo songs. DENIZ TEK (OF RADIO BIRDMAN) IVAN JULIAN March 2011 saw the Citadel Records release of the double-CD compilation "Deniz Tek-The Citadel Years". The founding member and chief songwriter of the acclaimed Radio Birdman has created a large body of unique work over the last 20 years and a varied selection of it is featured on this release. Tracks have been derived from numerous album and EP releases, many of which are currently out of print or hard to find. Collaborations with notable musicians are a featured, including sessions with MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer and various Radio Birdman members. Tek's songs are unique, bridging the gap between the style of Radio Birdman and a totally new path of experimentation. Following a successful Australian tour and recent performance in Ann Arbor with The Stooges, Tek will play a few selected USA shows to include shows in New York City. Joining him will be Art and Steve Godoy, legendary figures in the parallel worlds of tattooing, skateboarding, and punk rock. This album release and performances will be of great interest to fans, aficionados of underground Australian rock, and anyone who appreciates unique songs featuring a blend of hard and aggressive, as well as personal, guitar and vocal styles.
