Mustard Box Bag from New Look

Posted: 06 Jul 2011 10:15 AM PDT

Boxbag

Sometimes it's the most simplistic and versatile items that become wardrobe favourites, especially when it's a stylish accessory you can turn to almost any outfit. This cool, sixties inspired Box Bag from New Look is a piece that could become an everyday essential, and at a price which belies its good looks.

The rounded box bag structure has a great retro feel, toeing the line between sharp lines and a more youthful appeal like so many sixties designs. The use of a mustard shade of faux leather, along with the gold chain strap and hardware, keeps the vintage colour palette in place too.

It's now available from New Look for just £15.99.

eBay watch: 1975 Volkswagen Beetle convertible

Posted: 06 Jul 2011 08:11 AM PDT

Beetle

Looking for a summer runaround? This 1975 Volkswagen Beetle convertible should be just the thing when the sun starts to shine.

Taxed and tested, the 1600cc Beetle isn't an original convertible, it's been converted sometime in its past. But it been restored pretty well, most recently a new stereo and a full set of tyres. What we don't know is the mileage, with 11 previous owners it could be high.

But on the plus side, this isn't the most expensive car in the world, with bidding at £1,700 and a 'buy it now' of £2,000. For a good runner (or what claims to be), that's certainly an affordable classic. More images on the listing.

For sale: 1960s Arthur A J Marshman-designed Horton Rounds circular house in Horton, Northamptonshire

Posted: 06 Jul 2011 07:46 AM PDT

Hort1

Round by name, round by nature, that's this Arthur A J Marshman-designed Horton Rounds house in Horton, Northamptonshire.

Arthur A J Marshman designed the house in 1966 on the grounds of the old tennis courts to Horton House. Why he decided on circular is anyone's guess, but we're glad he did, as he's left us a stunning period gem set out over three floors, with an annexe wing and some good outside space.

Hort2

The exterior is pure 1960s, while the inside is a mox of the modern day and the original era - exposed stonework and wooden ceilings mix it with modern furnishings and a new fitted kitchen. Some oddness too, like an elevator and spiral staircase as you enter the house, for example.

Hort3

The property offers four bedrooms, four reception rooms, a study/snug, kitchen and utility, two en-suite bathrooms, balconies, a domed skylight, roof terrace and an annexe wing with 'a circular exposed brick library store', which sounds, frankly, amazing. Outside, you'll find off-road parking and six car ports, plenty of storage areas and mature gardens that lead into the countryside.

Want it? Offers of around £799,950 will probably be accepted.

We did preview these over on our His Knibs site a while back, but now the Adidas Achill trainers are available to buy.

In this case, you get the original shape, with a suede and mesh upper, D-ring lacing and cutaway sole, with a colour option of white or black. The other style pictured over the page.

Though the paper is shown here in black and white, it can also be bought in a pink tinted version - perfect for those who like to look at the past through the rose tinted spectacles of nostalgia. Don't want it over an entire wall? The design is also available on photo albums and hat boxes.

Free Range Designs Chaise Longue

Posted: 06 Jul 2011 01:35 AM PDT

Chaise_longuesq_1
Free Range Designs' Chaise Longue combines the feel-good factor of product made from recycled parts with the decadent luxury always suggested by a chaise.

The piece was made originally as a commission for the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales, but can be made to order in around 5 weeks. It is made from recycled wood from skips and scrap woodpiles, but polished and oiled so you would never know its humble origins. It has a novelty coin slide down the backrest, intended to carry a message about modern over-consumption, although perhaps a little rich coming from an item costing £2,900.

Visit the Free Range Designs website to order.

Sagaform Blossom Teapot

Posted: 06 Jul 2011 01:22 AM PDT

Blossomteapot
Sagaform can always be relied upon for a good retro pattern such with the Blossom Teapot being the latest.

The teapot is made from stoneware with an oak lid. If the design looks familiar, that is because Blossom combines the elements of three other Camilla Engdahl patterns: Tulip, Daisy and Clover, so if you already own tea sets in those prints, this teapot will work well with them.

Buy it from Illustrated Living, priced £25.95.
