Campbell's Condensed Soup returns - in an original Warhol-style tin

Posted: 07 Aug 2011 08:53 AM PDT

Camp

Good news for food and art lovers - Campbell's Condensed Soup is back on the shelves.

Well, we say food lovers. Not everyone loves the stuff. But there's an added reason why we're getting excited over the return. The cans of soup are back in Tesco from this week, in a choice of Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Tomato, Cream of Chicken and Cream of Celery, plus a Low Fat Chicken and Low Fat Mushroom, with one in particular peaking our interest.

As you can see from the image above, the mushroom is the one to grab. It comes in the original 1960s-style tin, meaning it doubles up as a piece of Warhol-style art for your kitchen. In fact, at just 50p a tin, you can grab a pile of them for displaying, especially as they have a two-year plus sell-by date. But be warned - shelves of the vintage tin are already emptying fast.

Posted: 07 Aug 2011 08:15 AM PDT

Cabinet

We have featured vintage radiograms on eBay, but the Draper Media Console at Urban Outfitters is actual an all-new unit of sorts.

Not that you'd know at a glance. That wooden cabinet and its tapered legs looks every bit the late '50s, early '60s original. Within, you'll find a three-speed turntable and AM/FM stereo receiver, with the unit also featuring a silver-toned front, frosted dust cover, external stereo speaker output, headphone output, built in speakers and a volume control. Of course there's plenty of room for your old school vinyl too.

You can buy it online for $249 (£151). They ship worldwide too.

You really can't get any more classic than the Watt ceiling lamp at John Lewis.

As the name suggests and the images show, this is a ceiling lamp based on the light bulb.  Indeed, it's a bulb within a bulb, that larger outer bulb made of glass and with a brushed chrome finish, holding a 25w bulb for the light.

For sale: 1950s grade II-listed Highsett apartment in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Posted: 07 Aug 2011 02:14 AM PDT

High1

Plenty of new-build flats on the market, but none are a patch in this 1950s grade II-listed Highsett apartment in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

This is one of 37 apartments that were built in the late 1950s, getting grade II status back in 1998. It's modernism of the era and still incredibly stylish and practical today. It's also quite conveniently located too, within walking distance of the city centre and the train station. That's if you need to be in Cambridge obviously.

High2

This particular apartment has been updated, including windows, a new bathroom, laminate wood flooring and Celotex insulation, but overall, it is still very much faithful to the original design- a design that also offers access to the central square and communal gardens.

High3

There is 742 square ft. of internal accommodation, including a reception lobby with recessed area with coat hooks, doorway opening to the kitchen, along with a sitting room that extends into the dining area. There's also an inner hallway with built in cupboards, two bedrooms and a bathroom. A private store cupboard is adjacent to the apartment.

If you want to own it, you'll need to offer around £315,000 to secure it.

eBay watch: 1972 MG B GT car

Posted: 07 Aug 2011 02:09 AM PDT

Mg

If you fancy dipping your toe in the waters of classic car ownership, this 1972 MG B GT could be a good place to start.

That year is important, as it is one of the last tax-exempt MG Bs, as well as being one of the models with chrome bumpers and overdrive in 3rd and 4th gear. It's also described as 'mechanically sound' and with 'sold bodywork', with the added bonus of a Webasto sunroof and Rostyle wheels, not to mention a modern CD MP3 player within.

Mg2

On the downside, while it sounds fine to drive away and around, the car isn't perfect, with some bodywork issues needing your attention, as well as some of the chrome. The interior is described as 'reasonable', but again, might need a bit of work.

However, it's a great starting point, a practical classic with potential to improve. But best of all, it's available with on reserve - and right now is at £1,450.

Keep Calm And Come In Doormat

Posted: 07 Aug 2011 01:33 AM PDT

Calm

Over five years since we first featured it (and yes, we were the first with it), that poster just keeps on appearing in different guises - the latest being this Keep Calm And Come In Doormat.

Yes, another variation of the Keep Calm and Carry On craze, which we thought had run out of steam by now. But we do actually like this particular design, which uses the original red and white on a mat sized at 43 x 73cm.

£23.50 is the price.
