Swing coats for Summer never seem to go out of style, and it never takes over the top detailing or patterns to make a real retro statement. One of the best we've seen this season comes in the form of this 60s Swing Mac from Oasis.

Available in two vintage inspired shades, the tomato red in particular has an effortless feel of British mid-sixties design. With an A-line shape, slim sleeves and a high collar, the simple addition of flap pockets adds both practicality and a hint of classic militaristic influence too.

It's now available in both colours for £75 from Oasis.

Sourcing individual pieces like clip-on earrings, rings and necklaces, each piece is pre-worn and roughly dated to their original eras. Assuring good condition and cleanliness, the vintage pieces are kept affordable too, with the earrings above retailing at £14.

Embrace a bit of granny-chic with this Doily Rug from Urban Outfitters.

With it's bold graphic style, the rug is actually a far cry from anything old-fashioned. It might take it's inspiration from the crocheted ornamental table mats so beloved of grandmas, but the finished article has a fresh modern look with a Scandinavian-style design.

The rug comes in either pink or black, measures 152cm (W) x 213cm (L) and is 100% cotton.

It costs £65 from Urban Outfitters - find out more here.

eBay watch: 1978 Lotus Esprit S2 car

Posted: 09 Aug 2011 06:42 AM PDT

Lotus1

James Bond drive a Lotus Esprit in The Spy Who Loved Me, which you may remember, turned into a submarine. This 1978 Lotus Esprit S2 doesn't do that…at least, not as far as we know.

But it does have one special feature - the power to turn heads. This is 1970s excess on four wheels, the kind of car no one in their right mind would build in 2011. But it was around in the mid-70s, with this example in silver with a red leather interior, fully working, with new bumpers, a new battery and a stainless steel exhaust.

Lotus2

The seller concedes that the car, just out of storage, would benefit from some cosmetic work. But a car of this age probably would do. Bidding right now is at £2,050.

This latest incarnation comes in classic shiny black leather with a whopping 5.5 inch heel, somewhat mitigated by the platform sole. The peep toe adds to the pin-up vibe and leg lengthening appeal -  a perfect accompaniment to the Autumn/Winter season's pencil skirts starting to appear in the shops.

The shoes cost £62 from Topshop - check them out on the website.

Hans Wegner influenced Bojne chair from Ikea

Bojne

We recently showed you Ikea's Stockholm floor lamp, which looked like it had been influenced by the work of Arne Jacobsen. Their Bojne chair also looks like it has taken its cue from classic Danish design, this time the work of Hans Wegner.

Specifically, the distinctive shape of the chair back is reminiscent of Wegner's CH20 design for Carl Hansen & Son, also known as the Elbow chair. That chair was designed back in 1956 but only went into production a couple of years ago.

The Ikea chair is made from beech, and while it misses out on some of the organic, smooth curves of the original design, it's typically reasonably priced. While an Elbow chair will set you back over £400, this Ikea chair costs only £49.

Currently only available to buy in store, you can find out more on the Ikea website
