Leatherette Trim Coat from Warehouse Posted: 23 Aug 2011 10:30 AM PDT Every Autumn/Winter season it's the outerwear that most often draws on classic design for inspiration, providing a great choice for retro lovers across the eras. This Leatherette Trim Coat from Warehouse has a cool vintage inspired feel that will last for seasons. The style leans heavily on menswear for inspiration, with a wide shoulder and long lapels. A tailored waist and hip pockets add some femininity, while the light grey fabric and contrasting leatherette collar keep things firmly retro. It's available from Warehouse for £95. |
Kiara Crepe Georgette Blouse from Boohoo Posted: 23 Aug 2011 10:00 AM PDT For a chic and timeless retro look there's nothing quite as effective as monochrome, mixing sharp lines with graphic contrasting shades. This Kiara Crepe Georgette Blouse from Boohoo stylishly combines a variety of fabric textures in a simple piece that's truly versatile. The sheer fabric of the body lends itself well to the loose fit, with tight cuffs creating a very sixties belled sleeve shape. In both colour options, the short contrasting collar has instant vintage appeal, while the use of lace at the fastening and cuffs is a chic and fitting addition. It's available online from Boohoo now for £18. |
eBay watch: 1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk III Posted: 23 Aug 2011 07:41 AM PDT Looking for a vintage sports car you can just drive away and upgrade in our own time? This 1969 Triumph Spitfire Mk III could fit the bill. |
Visit London Fields print by Beyond Thrilled Posted: 23 Aug 2011 05:08 AM PDT The print strays not too far from the Stoke Newington print in either location or style. This design shows the tower blocks of contemporary London, but depicted through the nostalgic style of a classic travel poster. Available in a choice of two colourways - either blue and green or magenta and pale orange - the prints cost £60 each. Buy it from Shelf |
Routefinder armchair from John Lewis Posted: 23 Aug 2011 05:03 AM PDT Combining a retro shape with classic transport-style typography, it's no wonder this Routefinder armchair from John Lewis caught our eye. The chair is made in a classic, chunky Art Deco style. The twist to the look is the linen covering which is printed with London travel destination, much in the style of some of the bus blinds we've featured in the past. Like this? There's also a sofa in the same style, though that design uses the transport motif on accompanying loose cushions only. The chair costs £699. See it online |
Lego 1960s Volkswagen T1 Camper Van Posted: 23 Aug 2011 04:09 AM PDT I know we featured the Space Shuttle set the other day, but we think this Lego 1960s Volkswagen T1 Camper Van tops even that. |
Fred Perry long-sleeved polo shirts Posted: 23 Aug 2011 03:48 AM PDT The Fred Perry polo shirt is a classic, but not necessarily ideal for the colder months. Which is where the Fred Perry long-sleeved polo shirts come in. Via Modculture |
Vintage Alphabet Poster by Paula Mills Posted: 23 Aug 2011 02:53 AM PDT Sweet William describe themselves as: "we make, draw, sew, collect lots of sweet things and drink endless cups of tea!" which sounds pretty good to us. This particular print combines typography, vintage images and hand drawn illustrations and would look great in any child's room. It measures 8 inches by 10 and costs around £12. Buy it online from the Sweet William Etsy Store. |
The Beatles and The Stones Exhibitions at Proud Galleries Posted: 23 Aug 2011 02:32 AM PDT The Beatles: Revolutionary 1965 by Michael Peto is coming to Proud Camden later this week, whilst over at Proud Chelsea from September, there is Raj Prem Fine Art Photography presents: The Decca Years - The Rolling Stones. The Beatles exhibition offers an intimate portrait of the band taken during one of the most significant years in their career, including photographs in the studio recording Rubber Soul and from the day they found out they would receive MBEs. Peto's photographs are unobtrusive in style and this exhibition includes a number of rare and unseen shots. Raj Prem Fine Art Photography presents: The Decca Years brings together the work of numerous photographers who captured the band between 1962 and 1971 when they were signed to the label. The exhibition includes Gered Mankowitz's photographs capturing their first flush of commercial success in the US, Michael Cooper's highly personal shots taken in Tangiers and the California desert, Ethan Russell's images from the infamous 1969 US tour and Dominique Tarlé's photographs from Villa Nellecôte in the South of France where Exile on Main Street was recorded. The Beatles: Revolutionary 1965 by Michael Peto runs from 25th August to 16th October and Raj Prem Fine Art Photography presents: The Decca Years runs from 15th September until 23rd October. More information on both can be found on the Proud website. |
