Corona Fedora from Anthropologie Posted: 24 Aug 2011 07:55 AM PDT Cast aside all thoughts of careful new season fashion planning and instead, invest in a wonderful Corona Fedora from Anthropologie. This orange hat will see off autumnal gloom and place it's wearer firmly on trend with nods to both forties elegance and the continuing preoccupation with colour - if you care about such things. It's also just a joyous piece of headgear in a style favoured by the likes of Indiana Jones and Michael Jackson - what other reason do you need? The hat costs £38 from Anthropologie. |
Posted: 24 Aug 2011 07:54 AM PDT A new addition to the Conran Classics Range, the Belton Pinstripe Armchair is the modern incarnation of that quintessentially British piece of furniture, the Lloyd Loom Chair. Despite the fact that these chairs are synonymous with British 1930's chic, the creator of Lloyd Loom was in fact an American, who invented the manufacturing process of wrapping paper around wire and weaving the resulting strips together to create this attractive and durable furniture. The Belton Pinstripe combines black and white strands to create a more modern look that updates this classic piece for today. The chair costs £330 from The Conran Shop. |
eBay watch: Fully-serviced 1960s Dansette Conquest record player Posted: 24 Aug 2011 06:51 AM PDT We love a Dansette, as you might have noticed, with this Dansette Conquest record player well worth keeping an eye on. It's been serviced by Dansette experts Electroboogie, so you get the vintage player in original condition, but you also get the performance too, with output described as 'excellent, very crisp, clear and undistorted'. It's probably got some depth too, thanks to the twin stage valve plus rectifier amplifier and two large front mounted loudspeakers. Also present is a pink and cream colour scheme, a cloth front loudspeaker panel, original Dansette on/off volume, tone and bass gold capped control knobs, a black Dansette logo power indicator (which lights up when the player is on) and a four-speed Monarch deck autochanger. |
20th century print by Oscar Bolton Green Posted: 24 Aug 2011 05:47 AM PDT The piece is apparently inspired by some of this illustrator's favourite pieces in the V&A Museum, so you get his interpretations of the Sottsass Casablanca cabinet (no doubt also part of the forthcoming Postmodernism exhibition), the Flos Toio lamp and a Robin Day chair. Fortunately the print is much more affordable than the objects it depicts. It will set you back just £25. Buy it online |

Posted: 24 Aug 2011 03:26 AM PDT The background of the paper is a grid of squares like traditional grid notepaper, with black handwriting over the top. The handwriting looks like it has been created with an old-fashioned ink pen and repeats various (seemingly random) words and letters. The wallpaper is available in two sizes: 51cm wide by 3m long or 84cm wide by 3m long. The 51cm version costs £95 with the wider version £49.99 more. Buy it online from Bodie and Fou. |
Beetles and Stones T-Shirt by Invisible Friend Posted: 24 Aug 2011 02:57 AM PDT The t-shirt began as an adult's top, but Invisible Friend has introduced a range of grown-up t-shirts for kids, so you can buy this for yourself or your toddler. Both feature the same wry illustration of insects and pebbles, but the kids version is a dark green print on a grass green tee, whilst the adults is charcoal grey with a pale blue print. The t-shirts cost £18 for the kid's version and £27 for the adult sizes, from the Invisible Friend shop on Not on the High Street. |
