Faux Fur Cardigan from Miss Selfridge Posted: 12 Sep 2011 11:03 AM PDT For a quick injection of vintage-look decadence in any wardrobe, faux fur is a great option for outerwear and accessories. While the original style icons wore the real thing, this Faux Fur Plunge Collar Cardi from Miss Selfridge has all the style without the tricky morals, and at a fraction of the price to boot. The cardigan's plunging neckline and cropped body help to create a chic fifties hourglass shape, accentuating the bustline with the addition of the fur detailing. With skinny-fit sleeves and an all-over muted colour palette, this the sort of wardrobe addition you'll find yourself pairing with a wide variety of outfit choices. It's available from Miss Selfridge now for £45. |

Library wallpaper by Andrew Martin Posted: 12 Sep 2011 03:59 AM PDT Want to give the impression you are incredibly well read? Invest in Andrew Martin's library wallpaper, based on an impressive collection of vintage books. While this is an idea that we've seen quite a few times before (such as in these designs from Tracey Kendall and Anthropologie) this design differs in that it's an illustrative depiction of the books, rather than simply a photographic reproduction. It's available in four different colourways: the multi-pictured, or shades described as cocoa, leather and stone. The paper costs £119 a roll. Order it online |
Posted: 12 Sep 2011 02:57 AM PDT In 1928 teenage brothers Nils and Jannes Olsson started to carve and handpaint wooden horses, a tradition that has been passed down through their families and has become a symbol of Dalarna in the heart of Sweden. Hus and Hem has just taken stock of these traditional ornaments in a choice of two designs, Magda Green or White Rose (which looks to be a orange-red colour rather than white). The horses cost £24.95 each from Hus and Hem. |
Britarama by Jonathan Wilkinson Posted: 12 Sep 2011 02:26 AM PDT While in the past, we've featured Jonathan Wilkinson's work of buildings associated with films, such as the Billy Liar house, his new Britarama project focuses on more everday details of Britain. There's a growing collection of imagery available on the website which depicts such delights as laundrettes, telephone boxes and milk floats, as in the Rinse and Return print shown above. An A3 print costs £25, while you can buy an A2 print for £35. See the range online |

As well as being able to buy items from Marimekko's home accessories range, you will be able to see the Marimekko 'Scare Owl' as features in the new Marimekko book "Surrur, Make Your Own Marimekko" – I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it sounds intriguing! Another highlight of the week-long event will be a talk on 20 September by Wallpaper's Editor at Large Henrietta Thompson entitled "Why Blonds Have More Fun: 60 Years of Scandinavian Design". Further details are available on the Heal's website. |
