Bright Sailor Slacks from Tara Starlet Posted: 19 Sep 2011 10:15 AM PDT Fifties frocks are always an option catered for by the many retro brands out there, and often replicated on the high street too. Finding equally snappy separates can be more of a challenge, making these Bright Sailor Slacks from British brand Tara Starlet even more special. Available in a range of vivid colours, the slacks have an unmistakeably fifties feel thanks to their stylish structure. A high waistline combined with wide legs helps to create a cool retro silhouette, while the addition of nautical-inspired hip buttons accentuates the hips for a great hourglass. They're available from Tara Starlet for £60 per pair. |
Vivi Rhinestone Dress by Milly Posted: 19 Sep 2011 10:00 AM PDT Fashion historians might best remember the 1960s as a decade of daring change, but not all the icons of the time had the daring license of rock and roll's stylish few. For your own piece of that very sixties balance between classic style and originality, this Vivi Rhinestone Dress by Milly is a great choice. Reminiscent of the high end fashions of Jackie O, this wool blend dress has a simplistic and timeless shift shape. The sleeveless cut, high neckline and underbust belting create a very retro silhouette, with the bright colour and textured fabric keeping it youthful and fresh. Get yours from My Wardrobe online for £375. |

“A Scene From..” Prints by Graphic Nothing Posted: 19 Sep 2011 06:50 AM PDT I would imagine if you are reading this site that you will recognise the above image as being David Hemmings setting up his camera in Blow-Up. Other cult and classic movie moments given Graphic Nothing's makeover including Mick Jagger dancing with a neon light tube in Performance, Cameron, Sloane and Ferris posing in Chicago's Art Gallery in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and of course, a scene from Star Wars just before Ben Kenobi dies. The prints are available in three sizes A3 (£19), A2 (£28) and A1 (£46) from Some Prints. |
eBay watch: 1960s Junghans Ato-Mat mantle clock Posted: 19 Sep 2011 05:19 AM PDT Not just another space age 1960s clock, this Junghans Ato-Mat mantle clock has a little more of the 'classic' about it. But it still looks very much of the era, perfect for an early-to-mid 1960s room. The case is wooden, with a glass face and those minimal hands and numbers (represented as lines). The whole thing is around 26cm wide and 17.5cm high.According to the seller, the clock is in 'superb' condition, with the only sign of wear being on one of the back bottom corners of the case - very slight wear though. If you fancy owning it, bidding is at £4.99 right now. Find out more at the eBay website |
