For sale: 1970s windmill house in Dowbridge, Kirkham, Lancashire Posted: 10 Oct 2011 06:01 AM PDT I've been aware of this place for some time, but poor quality agent images have stopped us featuring. Not anymore - here is the 1970s windmill house in Kirkham, near Blackpool, Lancashire in all its retro glory. Originally just a windmill, it was converted into a house in 1973 and still looks very much of that era. It also benefits from its own private gardens and as it towers above all else, some great views of the nearby countryside too. That mix of original tower and 1970s annexe also offers a lot of accommodation too. On the ground floor, there's an entrance hall, store rooms and utility room, along with three bedrooms and a family bathroom with separate WC.A spiral staircase leads to the first floor with a dining room, lounge with a door leading to the wrap around balcony, breakfast kitchen and en-suite bedroom with a 2nd balcony leading off. To the second floor there is a 5th bedroom again with an en suite bathroom/WC. Outside, you'll find those gardens, along with a double garage, plus a second detached garage with up and over door. More images on the listing and if you want them, the asking price is £695,000. |

Rita retro seating from Made.com Posted: 10 Oct 2011 03:11 AM PDT Made.com comes up with another retro influenced gem, this time the Rita seating range. The range has been strongly influenced by 50s curves - just check out the sofa pictured above for visual proof. The same looks are also applied to a wingback chair and an occasional chair, all handmade in the UK and available for a very reasonable price. One disadvantage is the lack of colourways: it's only available in the heather and stripe combination picture. Like that look and you can pick up a bit of bargain. The sofa pictured costs £799 while you can pick up an occasional chair for £259. See the range online |
Welles Table by Matthew Hilton Posted: 10 Oct 2011 02:24 AM PDT The table consists of a solid wood top in either American black walnut or American white oak, sitting on top of cast iron legs. Those legs are in the angled style so beloved of midcentury Scandinavian design (and pretty much everywhere at the moment). The table is available in three lengths : small 160cm, medium 200cm or large 240cm. Prices start at just over £2,700 for the small oak version up to £3,270 for the large in walnut. Buy the table online at Utility Design. |
It’s Only Rock n Roll Limestone Wall Art Posted: 10 Oct 2011 02:01 AM PDT Instead of paper or canvas, the famous Rolling Stones' song title is reproduced on a slab of limestone, which gives the design an uneven textured finish that works well with the vintage typography. The piece has been created by Coulson Macleod whose work we've featured here in the past. The limestone wall art costs £49 unframed or you can buy an extra £80 to have it framed ina suitable rustic handmade frame, made from reclaimed antique Victorian roof timbers. Buy it online at Rockett St George. |
