Stanhope Teapot from Anthropologie

Posted: 17 Oct 2011 10:53 AM PDT

Stanhope
Impractical teapots seem to be a bit of a thing at the moment. After the Sewing Machine teapot we featured last week, here comes another quirky vintage style tea vehicle.

This Stanhope Teapot from Anthropologie is whimsical frippery at it's finest. Inspired by a traditional tea service, the teapot, which stands at just short of a foot tall, is made up of clobbered together pieces from twee tea sets to create a totally unique, show stopping teapot. Aside from a selection of pretty pastries, surely the perfect centre piece at any vintage tea party.

£228 from AnthropologieSee the website for more details.

Cromwell Striped Pea Coat from Urban Outfitters

Peacoat

Much of the high street's retro outerwear opts for a more formal, tailored look. If you're looking for something a little more casual, however, there's no shortage of vintage inspiration to be found. This Cromwell Striped Pea Coat from Urban Outfitters has all the sixties appeal of full length coats, while remaining casual enough to pair with your everyday wardrobe.

The simple pea coat structure lends itself well to carrying the colourful stripes, with a double breasted fastening and straight cut in the body. The colour palette has a classic sixties and seventies crossover appeal, while the addition of a hood is both practical and stylish at once.

It's now available from Urban Outfitters for £110.

Amos Dress from Monsoon

Amosdress

The Autumn/Winter season always brings an output of glitzy and glamourous dresses in time for Christmas, making it harder to find a more demure aesthetic among the sequins. This Amos Dress from Monsoon is a welcome addition to their new season output, with a classic sixties appeal.

The dress has a simple A-line shape, with the addition of bell sleeves helping to create a timeless silhouette. The contrast of textures and colours lifts this dress from the ordinary to ensure it's suitable for night or day, while the cutesy peter pan collar keeps it youthful too.

It's now available from Monsoon for £120.

For sale: 1960s J Roy Parker-designed four-bedroom house in Parkgate, Cheshire

Posted: 17 Oct 2011 07:14 AM PDT

Park1

Last week on our WowHaus site, we spotted a modernist property in Neston in Cheshire, the work of noted architect J Roy Parker. After a bit of digging about, we found that he was also responsible for a mini estate in the same area, which includes this 1960s J Roy Parker-designed four-bedroom house in Parkgate, Cheshire.

This cul-de-sac of modernist properties was designed in 1965 and has been featured in the Cheshire volume of Nikolaus Pevsner and Edward Hubbard's The Buildings of England book, as well as being flagged up by English Heritage. So some pedigree for a suburban dwelling.

Park2

The original shape and features are still here, including the copper roof and floor-to-ceiling windows, mixed with some modern-day home comforts. In terms of that layout, a door and hall with exposed brick face wall and wood panelling lead to a cloakroom with WC and wood-panelled walls, a lounge with French doors to rear and more of that wood wall panelling, a dining room and modern kitchen.

Park3

Head upstairs via the open-plan staircase (which ultimately leads to some loft space) and you'll find four bedrooms (two with built-in wardrobes), a bathroom and separate WC. Outside, there's a block paved driveway, lawn, mature trees and borders, a garage that's current used for storage plus two timber garden sheds. The price is around the £350,000 mark.

eBay watch: 1970s Metamec chrome sunburst wall clock

Posted: 17 Oct 2011 03:43 AM PDT

Clock

We have featured a few clocks in this style before, but all too often they are in brass. This Metamec sunburst wall clock is undoubtedly more rare, coming in chrome.

According to the seller, the clock dates from the '60s, but the description does also say that is it 'impressed 1974', so I think you have your year there. It is also labelled Metamec and England, with those 12 'rays' all being in chrome, sat around a period face.

In terms of condition, that's described as 'brilliant' for its age, with on damage and in 'good working order'. So ready to go in short. It is sized at 24" x 24" and is battery operated. Current auction price is £10.49.

Jonathan Adler Carnaby waves lamp

Posted: 17 Oct 2011 03:22 AM PDT

Carnaby

Jonathan Adler's first UK store is opening in Chelsea this month. If you can't make it down there, it's also meant the opening of a UK based webstore too. It's also complete with some exclusives that aren't available to our Stateside friends, including this Carnaby waves lamp

The lamp illustrates Adler's trademark graphic, colourful style and use of luxe materials, and why we've wanted him on this side of the Atlantic for so long. This lamp is made from porcelain, with nickel accents and stands just under an imposing 80cm high.

If you've been living in blissful ignorance of Jonathan Adler prices, the UK website also reveals the cruel and usually pricey truth. This lamp costs £295, or you can buy a smaller version for £195.
