Knoll Sample Sale in London - up to 70 per cent off design classics Posted: 28 Oct 2011 09:02 AM PDT The headline says it all really - if you want a design classic bargain, you need to be in London on Saturday 19th November for the Knoll Studio Sample Sale. It takes place at the Clerkenwell showroom (91 Goswell Road, London, EC1V 7EX) for one day only, running from 10am to 4pm. But if you want the deals, the first of those times if perhaps the most relevant. If not sooner. According to Knoll, some of the products in the sale will be ex-display and photo shoot samples, which will be the ones with the heavy discounts, sold as seen obviously. That includes: Saarinen Tulip Side Tables from £199 (previously priced from £480) Florence Knoll Marble Coffee Tables from £549 (previously priced from £1164) Saarinen Tulip Chairs from £499 (previously priced from £984) Tulip Dining Tables from £756 (previously priced from £1512) and the 'star buy - a black Barcelona Chair, which will be selling for £899 instead of its usual retail price of £4572. eBay watch: Midcentury-style wooden shelving unit Posted: 28 Oct 2011 04:15 AM PDT If I had room in the house, I would be considering a bid on this midcentury-style wooden shelving unit. Sadly, I haven't, but maybe you have? It' an eye-catching piece, likely to date from the 1950s and good to go as shelving, storage or a side table. You get three shelving levels, one of those split, as well as those strange circles, which are probably for design only (unless you know better). The whole thing is finished off with the two large side panels and the angled legs. All made of wood, as you've probably guessed - the seller doesn't say what kind of wood though. Talking of the seller, he or she claims the unit is 'very nice quality overall' and in 'very good original condition', with just a couple of small scratches. Scott midcentury-style armchair at Made.com Posted: 28 Oct 2011 03:55 AM PDT We featured the Kubrick from the store's range yesterday, but another retro gem from the current Made.com range is this Scott armchair. Very much inspired by the 1960s, the chair is in a 'vintage brown' premium leather, with shaper edges, piping detail, as well as a button back and angled hardwood feet. There's also a deep spring seat and feather/fibre mix cushioning. Like all Made deals, this is a case of buying before the deadline. The full price of the chair is £1,859, but if you buy in the next two or so days, you get it for £549. There's also free delivery if you order before October 30th. Villa Nova Tea at the Ritz Fabric Posted: 28 Oct 2011 03:41 AM PDT Sanderson aren't the only company going all out of the 1950s influence. This Tea at the Ritz fabric is part of a wider collection, called High Society, by Villa Nova, that pays homage to that decade. The fabric features a print of hand-drawn ladies in 1950s dresses looking particularly glamorous - there isn't actually a cup of tea to be seen! The fabric is suitable for curtains and upholstery and is available in a variety of suitably midcentury colour options, including the Autumn shades shown here. No prices are given, but you can find a list of your local stockists on the Villa Nova website.
