The most hotly anticipated video game, the sequel to Rocksteady's amazing Batman video game Akham Asylum, Arkham City expands the strengths of its first outing. A larger realm to explore, greater challenges and more super villains to defeat, Arkham City is shaping up to be one monster of a game.
It seems that each week more material is revealed from the ability to play through the game as Catwoman and Robin to numerous villains from the Dark Knight's rogue's gallery. The latest if these is the Mad Hatter.
Via MTV:
Amazingly, Rocksteady Studios – developer of "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and the upcoming "Batman: Arkham City" – have shown no signs in slowing expansion of the "Arkham City" rogues gallery. So far, we know that Two-Face, Penguin, Joker, Hugo Strange, Riddler, Mr. Freeze, and most recently Deadshot are all lined up to stop Bats on October 18. Now, the team have announced that none other than crazy Jervis Tetch, a.k.a Mad Hatter, is bringing his psychedelic freakiness into the game.
Featured in the latest edition of PlayStation Network's "Qore" downloadable program, "Arkham City" director Sefton Hill talked about what you can expect when you jump into this massive, crime-filled section of Gotham in just a couple weeks. As a video montage plays, we get our first glimpse of the previously unannounced Mad Hatter. He's surrounded by creepy henchmen wearing bunny masks and – well, that's about it.
Tetch's little cameo goes by so quick, if you blink, you'll miss it. Still, it's fantastic to see Rocksteady still has some major secrets up their sleeves this close to launch. Mad Hatter probably doesn't rank in the top pantheon of Batman super-villains, but any character that thinks a great way to control the police department is to hand out free, drug-laced doughnuts is hilarious in my book.
There's also a quick glance at Poison Ivy during the video, and though her involvement in the game was previously hinted during the big Catwoman reveal months ago, it's the first – very brief – glimpse of the character since her appearance in "Arkham Asylum."
Hill also mentioned that you'll have the opportunity to visit the infamous alley behind the Monarch Theatre in-game. The video actually shows the chalk outline of the fallen Mr. and Mrs. Wayne, which leads me to ask, what kind of magical chalk has lasted on that ground all these years?
