The cushion features an image of a 70s glitter ball with the wise words "Dance Like No Ones Watching" in a sequin print. It looks to be made from shiny black polyester, which seems appropriate for the disco theme. It measures 45cm square and costs £29.95. Buy it online at Dwell. |

The back of the chair is made from a wire weave, but the legs of the chair are made from wood. It is available in a variety of different combinations, with the wood either painted or left as its natural beech finish and the cushion in either fabric or leather. My choice would be the version pictured here: a soft shade of green fabric with beech legs, which I think accentuates the midcentury look. The chair costs £552 with the fabric finish, rising to £744 for the leather from A White Room. |
For sale: 1980s four-bedroomed modernist-style property in Chislehurst, Kent Posted: 01 Nov 2011 04:55 AM PDT Built around 30 years ago, this four-bedroomed modernist-style property in Chislehurst, Kent is still a very distinctive design. Very much in tune with its 1982 vintage, the property has plenty of original features to admire, including the exposed brick walls, a brick-clad spiral staircase and wood panelled ceilings. If that kind of thing appeals, this is also quite a spacious house and a great blank canvas for your furnishings and artwork, particularly in that living room.In terms of the layout, this detached property offers up an entrance hall leading into the family room with exposed brick walls and sliding doors to the gardens. From here, you can access a large kitchen/breakfast room with access to the gardens. Also on the ground floor is the utility room with a door to the double integral garage and double bedroom with fitted wardrobe and adjacent shower rooms. Go up the distinctive spiral staircase (pictured on the site) and you'll find a dual-aspect living room with exposed brick walls and full height glazed windows overlooking the gardens. There is also a master bedroom, with en-suite bathroom, two further double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Outside the house is a gravelled driveway and south-facing, secluded gardens to the rear that face south. |
Posted: 01 Nov 2011 04:12 AM PDT Classic sci-fi meets Victoriana in the form of this officially licensed Star Wars Imperial wallpaper. Yes, Star Wars for your walls. With a Victorian/vintage twist, the paper is hand-screened flocked wallpaper, featuring textured portraits of Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and members of the Empire. Perfect for a feature wall, but perhaps a little much for a whole room or house. That's is as much to do with the price as much as the design. As it is hand-produced, you'll be looking at $199.99 (around £75), although that one roll will cover 33.75 sq feet. You can buy it now from ThinkGeek, which does ship worldwide. |
