Throughout the 1970's, children were fed so much sugar-coated madness that the most bizarre and outlandish art rock look tame by comparison. Of course I am really talking about the numerous projects helmed by Sid and Marty Krofft. Whether it's Lidsville, The Banana Splits, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, H.R. Pufnstuf or Land of the Lost, one would think that these two mild-mannered puppeteer/entertainers were part of the drug culture seeking to infect the minds of the young.

But the reality is that they're just plain weird.

Their programs were on almost all the time throughout my childhood and no doubt sculpted a large part of my psyche, along with that of the general American public.

However, what I did not realize is that there was once a full thee park created celebrating the various Sid and Marty Krofft production in downtown Atlanta. See below for more...

Opening in May of 1976 and closing only four short months later, the park featured four 'areas' including a forest land (Living Island Adventure) that incorporated a live show based on their many tv series, a stage area, and a carnival level. Rides included a carousel and a giant pinball machine (roller coaster) in which the riders ride in giant balls and ricochet around the track.
