FlashForward Cancelled Video | My Advice To Fans Is Read The Novel By Robert J. Sawyer

Posted: 14 May 2010 08:37 AM PDT

FlashForward has been canceled by ABC, with the network citing poor ratings for the decision. Well thanks a bunch, as I’ve spent the last six months watching this series, and I get left wanting more?

As you can see by this video, FlashForward started off so well, with lots of potential, and a scenario that could have tapped into the popularity of Lost and other drama series with plot twists at every turn.

But ratings have dropped substantially over the course of the first series, and ABC has now canned the show. There won’t be a second season, and the first is likely to be left unresolved as shooting will have finished before this decision was taken.

I’m getting really fed up with U.S. television canceling shows in this way. Whatever happened to sticking with an idea for a while? Unfortunately, these types of shows cost big money, whereas reality TV is cheap. So expect a lot more of the latter in the years to come.

My advice to fans of FlashForward is to get hold of the novel the TV series was based on. It’s by Robert J. Sawyer, it’s very different than the TV series, but it at least has a beginning, middle, and end.

Watch Funny Russell Howard’s Good News Video | Stand Up Comedy Meets Current Affairs

Posted: 14 May 2010 04:40 AM PDT

Russell Howard’s Good News combines stand up comedy, sketch comedy and absolutely hilarious commentary on what is happening in the news.

In Australia, we have Good News Week, which is like a stand up comedy show with games and multiple guests.

Now if we could just get Howard’s Good News airing over here as well, I would never have to stop laughing at the idiocy happening around the world. Beautiful!

Howard has to be an incredibly high energy guy, though. To do this consistently, by himself, watching the news of the week for material…

Comedians are another breed, but I love watching them.

Awesomely Annoying Jet-Powered Bicycle (Video) | How To Turn Heads In The Park

Posted: 13 May 2010 09:26 PM PDT

If you’ve got around $3000 to spare and never want to peddle a bike again, you could always go for the “jet-powered” upgrade as seen in this clip.

This home-made bike can go up to 70mph- though the creator warns us that it might not be very safe to do.

Of all the cool gadgets shown in BBC’s show Speed, this has to be one of the most useless ones I’ve seen. Even if I had enough money to attack a rocket-type device to my bike, I couldn’t bring myself to wearing that ridiculous suit and helmet.

As cool as the concept seems, it just isn’t practical. And don’t even get me started on the annoying plane engine sound.

Watch Funny Steve Hughes on the Comedy Roadshow Video | It’s Common Sense

The Dutch government treats their people like adults, but England? Not so much…

Steve Hughes isn’t quite laugh out loud funny – at least, to me – but I do like his ‘common sense’ kind of humor.

Not to mention the fact that he opens with… Well, I’ll just let you watch it. But I think it’s the perfect way to open.

By the way, Big Issue is a magazine ‘less fortunate’ people sell as a way to earn income, if you’re not familiar. I don’t think they have anything like that in the States, do they? At least, not in smaller towns…

Watch YouTube Star Greyson Chance Perform Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’ On Ellen Degeneres Show Video

Posted: 13 May 2010 06:55 PM PDT

YouTube sensation Grayson Chance got a once in a lifetime call from Ellen Degeneres to perform on her show!

I suppose I should actually listen to Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi to have an accurate comparison, but never having heard the song, I still think this kid is great.

It is nice to see such young talent who is obviously so happy. That’s because I know that happy young talent means he was encouraged to do what he loved.

I – and plenty of other people – will be very interested to see if he is able to make a career out of it.

Amazing Mother Bear Rescues Cub From Tree Video

Posted: 13 May 2010 05:02 PM PDT

They say there’s nothing like a mother’s love. How else can you explain the lengths this mama bear goes to when her cub is stuck up a tree?

Bjork the bear from Berne Bear Park in Switzerland shows amazing persistence here. I wasn’t sure she’d ever manage to get Baby Bear down, but after a lot of effort he’s soon returned to solid ground.

He scampers away quickly, perhaps to avoid a nagging parental lecture on the dangers of climbing trees! One thing's for certain, I’m sure he won’t attempt to scale any great heights any time soon. Lesson learned Mom!

Parkour Fail Video | Men: Don’t Watch This!

Posted: 13 May 2010 01:49 PM PDT

This video isn’t big, isn’t clever, and really doesn’t need a lot of explanation. But we’ll carry on despite these facts.

I advise men everywhere to avoid watching this. Seriously. Just step away from the Play button and go and do something else. What do you mean, it can’t be that bad? It can, and it is.

Essentially, this video shows a man crushing his testicles into the back of a bench while trying parkour. Women can watch this without any need to look away or wince, but men will cry and instinctively reach for their balls at the moment of impact.

This video is a good reason not to try parkour unless you’re super-fit, flexible, and are willing to take the odd excruciatingly painful moment. Which is why I stay at home watching DVDs and drinking beer instead.
