Travis Garland Video | Unknown Singer Performs On American Idol – But He Can’t Sing Posted: 20 May 2010 07:13 AM PDT I get the feeling the almost-constant stream of talent and singing shows we have on TV these days has lowered our standards and our expectations. That’s the only explanation for why some people are talking up Travis Garland, a virtually-unknown singer who appeared on American Idol last night. Is it just me or is he really not very good?
Despite what the title says, I do think this guy can sing. But he’s certainly not all there yet. His voice is all over the place, with the pitch and tone varying wildly between lines. And he doesn’t have a very strong voice either. In a studio, with all the bells and whistles added to his vocals, Travis Garland will do fine. But live, he isn’t yet up to scratch. Perez Hilton, you’ve failed us again. |
Man Reunites with Gorilla Friend Video | Touching Story the New Christian the Lion Posted: 19 May 2010 08:04 PM PDT We all remember the touching reunion of Christian the Lion and his original human owners. Now meet Damien Aspinall who was recently reunited with the gorilla he raised, Kwibi. No matter what the history, there’s always a moment when you wonder how the now wild animal would greet the human. But as with the case of Christian, we see that love goes beyond species and time. Watching Kwibi embracing Damien moved me to tears. This beautiful story reminds us what life is all about. |
Watch Ryan Buell Explains Demons, Spirits & Poltergeists Differences Video | Paranormal State on A&E Posted: 19 May 2010 07:51 PM PDT Ryan Buell explains the differences between the many nefarious entities Paranormal Research Society encounters. Paranormal State is a show on A&E that chronicles the extraordinary life of Ryan Buell and other members of the Penn State University Club The Paranormal Research Society as they try to find the truth behind terrifying real life mysteries, hauntings and ghosts. I have watched a few episodes of Paranormal State, and I have to admit that it is quite engaging. While it is obvious that some things are played up heaps for affect, some of these ‘cases’ look like they have genuine occurrences behind them. |
Watch Joe Ivory Explain the Basics of Numerology Video | Numbers of Your Life Posted: 19 May 2010 07:40 PM PDT Joe Ivory is widely recognized as a leader among professional numerologists, astrologers and tarot readers. Today he gives an introduction to numerology. I can just see the skeptics out there laughing their heads off in the first couple of minutes. I’m open to the idea that there are things beyond science that can help us figure things out, but numerology rubs me the wrong way for one reason: your name. You have no choice over what you get named. What if you hate your name? What if you were named for someone else? What if you got a name that was meant to be yours – but you were meant to be the other sex? For me, to believe in numerology, I would have to believe that everything is predetermined – including what your parents name you – and I don’t believe that. |
Galactic Empire State Of Mind Video | Jay-Z Spoof Performed By Star Wars’ Darth Vader Posted: 19 May 2010 02:11 PM PDT I don’t think I’ve seen such an ingenious and accurate spoof of a music track and video as this. Forget Jay-Z and Alica Keys – they have nothing on Darth Vader and Princess Leia from Star Wars.
Empire State Of Mind is a brilliant song; catchy, soulful, lyrical. But Galactic Empire State Of Mind is even better, with all the same elements and many more besides. We get to see Darth Vader rapping about his Death Star, the Rebel Alliance, Boba Fett, and the Ewoks. In fact, he tells the full story of the Original Trilogy, with some help from Princess Leia for the choruses, obviously. I can only assume that College Humor, which made the video, got permission from George Lucas to do this cover version, especially as there is footage of the Star Wars films playing in the background. If they didn’t then this could cost them a few dollars in court. |
