MacGruber Movie Review Video | MacGyver Spoof Funniest SNL Film Since Wayne’s World?

Posted: 21 May 2010 07:30 AM PDT

The MacGruber movie is out today in the U.S., and it seems to be splitting opinion down the middle. Some, like this reviewer, think it’s the best comedy of 2010, and the funniest SNL film since Wayne’s World. Others aren’t as keen. To put it mildly.

For those who don’t know: MacGruber is a character from Saturday Night Live played by Will Forte. It’s loosely based on MacGyver, the long-running TV show starring Richard Dean Anderson as a resourceful secret agent.

The obvious question with the film is whether the one joke – that MacGruber is a rubbish version of MacGyver – can be sustained for 90 minutes. And whether people who haven’t seen MacGyver will even get the jokes.

I like a good comedy but I’m not yet convinced MacGruber is a good comedy. I think this’ll be one film I can wait for until it’s released on DVD.

Funny Lewis Black Slams Glenn Beck (Video) | “Beck Has Nazi Tourettes!” Daily Show Clip

Posted: 20 May 2010 09:17 PM PDT

I’ll admit, since the Obama administration has taken office, The Daily Show just doesn’t have that bite that it used to. With Bush out of the picture, the show has to constantly find new victims to politically poke fun at.

Such is the case with Glenn Beck. In this clip Lewis Black nearly explodes with insults about Beck’s obvious “Nazi tourettes.”

When I head Lewis Black say things like, “Glen beck uses more swastika props than the history channel!” I can’t help but laugh and agree whole-heartedly. If you’ve ever watched Glen Beck’s show then you know that he loves using words like “communism,” “racist,” “propaganda,” and (lately) “Nazi” when describing the current administration.

This clip showcasing Beck’s hypocracy reminds me of the interview he did with Katie Couric where he couldn’t explain one of his own quotes. If you ask me, the man still needs to learn how to think before he speaks.

Star Wars Gets Vintage Film Treatment Video | What If Cult Sci Fi Classic Was a 3D Movie from the 50s?

Following the success of Avatar it seems the world has gone crazy for 3D films all over again. It’s enough to make you wonder how classic blockbusters like Star Wars could have been that much bigger with the three-dimensional treatment.

This video realizes those dreams … sort of.

Rather than giving us a slick, modern 3D trailer, here we see an old fashioned preview from 3Ds 1950s heyday. It’s grainy and unsophisticated, but there’s still a certain something about this.

I admire the creativity of this video, even if the crowds wouldn’t flock to the cinema to see the long version.

Extreme Landslide Video | Did The Earth Move For You? And I Am Talking Literally Here

Posted: 20 May 2010 12:14 PM PDT

I’m constantly blown away by the awesome power of nature. And by that I don’t mean when I walk down the road and get swept up by a tornado and transported a couple of miles down the road.

This has to be one of the best videos I’ve seen for showing nature at its most destructive. As a landslide happens right in front of our eyes, sending everything in its path down the side of the mountain.

At the beginning of the video, you really don’t expect too much. Maybe just some of the soil on the right pitching on the road. But no, a lot more is in store, as the whole mountainside takes a tumble.

It’s pretty amazing to see nature at work in this way, and I’m just glad the authorities knew this was going to happen and had zoned off the area. If a landslide uproots trees then you know that anyone too close will be pulled in to their death.
