BBC Sherlock Holmes Video | Cumberbatch Talks Bringing Detective Into 21st Century Posted: 17 Oct 2010 07:35 AM PDT Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed on screen, both on TV and in movies, dozens of times. But they’ve all been classical, literal adaptations until now.
Starting on Oct. 24, U.S. television viewers will be able to see Sherlock, the new series from the BBC, on PBS’ Mystery! The difference being that this Sherlock exists in the 21st century along with the rest of us. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Holmes, with Martin Freeman (who incidentally could soon be cast as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit) playing his sidekick Dr. Watson. This video shows Cumberbatch talking about the series. It’s an interesting idea, especially with the Sherlock Holmes movie being quite traditional, even with Robert Downey Jr. playing the lead. I’m not particularly enamored with either adaptation, but what do I know? |
Watch ‘Think Gay is a Choice?’ Video | When Did You Choose To Be Straight? Posted: 16 Oct 2010 04:18 PM PDT Street interviews putting some perspective into the though that being homosexual is a choice. So when did you choose to be straight? I seem to be stumbling onto a lot of these videos that have different ways of thinking. Perhaps the world is trying to tell me something… It is an annoying thing to do in an argument (trap someone in with a reversed question), but it does make a good point. At what point did any of us sit down and think, “Yeah, I’m going to go ahead and like boobies/like man parts”? I certainly didn’t. I just started falling in love with males. Funnily enough, some the men I fell in love with also loved men, so we ended up becoming good friends. |
Weird “Pussy People” Short Film Video | Crazy Cat Lovers Talk About Obsession Posted: 16 Oct 2010 02:52 PM PDT I believe there are three kinds of people in this world: people who don’t like cats, people who like cats, and crazy cat people. This video, cheekily titled Pussy People, deals with the latter category. This video only reinforces that “crazy cat lady” stereotype, but it does make for interesting viewing! |
Can Mushrooms Replace Plastic? (Video) | Natural Biodegradable Styrofoam Posted: 16 Oct 2010 11:59 AM PDT Plastic, as I’m sure we all know, has many complications associated with waste. Sure, it’s very versatile to use, but it is also made from petroleum and not biodegradable. In this video Eben Bayer shows how is company hopes to take on the plastic market and make it more environment friendly. One thing I’m surprised that Eben didn’t talk about was plates and cups. I’m sure there’s a huge market for fast-food restaurants if it would be possible. |
Cute Dog Playing Pool Video | Family Chihuahua Has Lots Of Fun Clearing The Table Posted: 16 Oct 2010 11:50 AM PDT I think I may have stumbled upon the cutest dog in the world. What’s more, he’s a champion pool player, being able to clear the table in just a couple of minutes.
I don’t know what’s happening to me – I think I’m slowly becoming a dog lover. And all because of YouTube. Just so long as my cat doesn’t hear me saying so, or reads the Web over my shoulder. I used to avoid videos featuring dogs like the plague. But I now cannot get enough of them. Yesterday we saw a husky singing a baby back to sleep, and today we have a pool-playing chihuahua. I adore this dog, especially the way he makes funny noises while potting the balls. Sure, he potted the white and failed to call his shots before taking them, but you can’t have everything. It is a dog after all. |
