Cream Bow Heels from Marks and Spencer

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 10:35 AM PST

Bowheels

White high heels have come to have a terrible reputation in recent years, but it only takes one shade of difference to turn a pair into a classic vintage-look option. These Demi Wedge Bow Heels from Marks and Spencer are a cutesy retro pair that will pair with a great variety of looks from fifties to eighties.

The fabric uppers take away any hint of tackiness that might be present with faux leather, while keeping them affordable. With a rich cream shade, the bow detail adds just enough retro kitsch, while a simple rounded toe shape keeps things classic. Sweet and stylish, this pair will see you through a very vintage Summer.

They're now available from Marks and Spencer for just £25.

As high street designs move from heavy Winter options to Spring and Summer collections, fabric choices allow for a whole new variety of textures and cuts to shine. This Linen Tab Neck Dress from Dorothy Perkins' Closet concession line is an ideal frock for warmer weather, with some stylish retro influence on show.

The simple shift cut is instantly sixties, with just enough figure skimming to create a sharp silhouette. With capped sleeves and a mid thigh hemline, the real gem is the tabbed high collar. With the ideal balance of conservatism and femininity, the pockets add a hint of wearable daytime style.

It's now available from Dorothy Perkins for £30.

eBay watch: 1970s Starsky and Hutch-style Ford Gran Torino car

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 08:35 AM PST

Torino

Here's something that's guaranteed to make men (and women) of a certain age feel nostalgic for their youth, a 1974 Ford Gran Torino car, which is available to buy via eBay.

Of course, it's the car made famous by Starsky and Hutch, with this particular model coming complete with the paint job from the TV show, not to mention a flashing red light. It's a childhood dream come true.

In terms of detail, it's had three owners since being imported from the US, with 70,200 miles on the clock. It's described as being in 'superb condition', with plenty of upgrading and maintenance over the years. Not cheap though - £12,995 on a 'buy it now' or you can make an offer. More images and details on the site.

Ella Doran is becoming a regular feature of the UK high street thanks to her collaborations with various retailers, the latest of which is Habitat.

The Joanie range is inspired by Ella's personal collection of vintage tea plates, with family heirlooms and charity shop finds updated and re-imagined to create a distinctive pattern with a contemporary flavour.

The range incorporates everything you need to hold a stylish tea party; bone-china tea-cups and dessert plates, napkins and a table runner - a great reason to get an apron on and get baking.

From russia with love
Art Meets Matter are celebrating 007 with their James Bond collection.

The range includes mugs, book bags and deckchairs covered with the covers of some of Ian Fleming's most famous books. Though the designs have a period feel, they're actually taken from the 2002 US editions of the books and are designed by Richie Fahey.

There are six different novels to pick from for the mugs and a selection of three titles used on the bags, including the From Russia With Love design shown above. Meanwhile, you can pick from either  Casino Royale or Thunderball (pictured over the page) to adorn your deckchair.

The mugs cost £8.95, the book bag costs £15.95 while the chair is available for £74.95.

Toronto chairs from Marks and Spencer

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 05:04 AM PST

Toronto
Marks and Spencer seem to be exploring a retro look at the moment, as well as the Montford armchair we featured last month, they're also stocking these Toronto chairs

With their curvy maple veneer back and set, they have more than a passing resemblance to Arne Jacobsen's Ant chair, which was launched by Fritz Hansen in 1952. The look is enhanced by the chrome legs (four of them in this case). The chair has been given a contemporary twist with a choice of pastel blue or green colour scheme.

A pair of the chairs costs £69.

The Beatles Colour Chairs

Eiffelbeatlescolour
As well as reproductions of iconic designs, Base Classics offers a custom pop art range, which includes The Beatles Colour Chairs.

The shape of the chair is inspired by Eames' Eiffel Chair, but rather than having a stark white seat, the face of a Beatle is imprinted against an acid bright background. There is the option to have the design printed on the back of the chair only (£250 per chair) or on both the back and front (£325 per chair). The price per chair is reduced if you buy two or more to £175 and £250 – and with this particular design, it would make sense to buy four.

Adidas Grand Slam trainers reissued in green canvas

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 12:52 AM PST

Grandslam

It's a reissue of the Adidas Grand Slam trainers, although the colour and construction might be slightly controversial.

First seen in 1981, the Grand Slam is back in what's called a 'reverse' colourway, as well as featuring a canvas upper. I suspect we might have lost a few of you already. For those still in, the features and shape are generally intact, but with gold (not real gold obviously) used for the pegs in the sole.

The canvas upper comes in a 'twilight green' and the reissue is described as 'highly limited'. Pre-orders now being taken, £85 is the price.
