Lo-Fi - retro photo effect application for your PC and Mac Posted: 06 Mar 2011 10:12 AM PST Recently, we featured an article on the best vintage camera apps for the iPhone. But what about photos you've already taken on a camera? Well, now there's Lo-Fi.
It follows a similar principle to the mobile apps, but operates on your PC or Mac to offer retro effects for existing photos. You can mix a wide range of effects from the film world, such as grain, colourful cross processing, lens blur, light leaks and frames. Combine more than one to create something unique. You can even hit a button for random effects, if you can't be bothered tweaking.
Along with editing, there's also easy sharing via Flickr and Facebook and if you want to try it out, there's also the option to try for free. If you like, the full download sells for $29.

Double-Lined Cotton Rain Coat by Brooks Brothers Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:59 AM PST When it comes to a classic mac, this Brooks Brothers Double-Lined Cotton Rain Coat is hard to beat. Althugh it's certainly not the cheapest thing on the market for UK buyers.
It's got a removable lining for dual-season wear (because, let's be honest, it rains pretty much all the time here), with details including two outer and five inner pockets, concealed button fastening and a single back vent. That inner layer is made from a cashmere blend too, so warm and comfortable you would suspect.
Another shot over the page, with an asking price of £500 in the UK. Apparently that price is considerably reduced if you buy in the US.

eBay watch: 1970s Guzzini iGuzzini table lamp Posted: 06 Mar 2011 07:48 AM PST I probably don't need to tell you the era of this Guzzini iGuzzini table lamp, the design pretty much tells you.
Yes, we're in the space age era of the early 1970s, with a dome shade that's hinged on both sides to attach to a curved base, with both shade and base made of sheet metal with a white painted finish. That hinge also means you can adjust the amount of light given out too.
It's described as being in 'good' condition, with some age-related marks and scratches on the white lacquer, but not to the point of severely diminishing the design. Want it? Right now bidding is at £1.20.

Lego 20th Century Architecture Sets now available in the UK Posted: 06 Mar 2011 05:45 AM PST We featured these some time back, but after a quick browse of the Lego website, we've just noticed that the Lego Architecture Sets are now available in the UK.
We mentioned two originally, but now there are four US architectural classics on the market - the Empire State Building, the Seattle Space Needle, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and last, but certainly not least, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater construction, which is pictured above.
All are detailed replicas, all come with booklets detailing the design and the history. Just make sure you've got plenty of time to build them. An image of the Guggenheim is over the page, with prices starting at £19.99. Here's to some of the same from Lego.
