Electric Car From 1914 (Video) | This Machine Still Runs Great Today

Posted: 30 Jun 2010 10:58 AM PDT

Contrary to popular belief, electric cars existed before ones that ran off of oil and were (at one point in time) more popular. Of course, the standard has shifted today, but it’s interesting to see such a “relic” run just as great as it did almost 100 years ago.

Those wondering if this car has been modified from it’s original design are right. Obviously, this car has been through some repairs in the last 90 years or so in it’s life. The fact still remains, though, that this car was electric when it was manufactured in the 1910’s.

Up until oil was found in Texas in 1920, many investors back in the early 20th century were betting that the standard would be electric. Considering the decline of gas consumption today, it looks like they’ll be right in the long run- but it seems that we still have a bunch of years to achieve that standard.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Movie Review | Bella, Edward, and Jacob’s Love Triangle

Posted: 30 Jun 2010 08:36 AM PDT

Let’s face it, you either love or hate the Twilight series. We’ve had all the four books, and the first two movies, enough for everyone to decide whether they’re interested or not.

Now it’s time for the third movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and I suspect those who love the series will love it, while those who loathe the series will loathe it. Simples.

When choosing which review to post, I had to decide between this one, which is appreciative, and one from a guy who really cannot understand the appeal. But who will be searching for Eclipse reviews? Fans, of course.

I tried reading the first Twilight book and struggled to get to the end. However, I’ve enjoyed the first two movies, and Eclipse looks like being the best yet. So I think I’ll head out to see it at the cinema. Wearing a big hat so that no one recognizes me. Naturally.

Watch Why Canada Banking System is Better than USA Banks Video

Posted: 30 Jun 2010 08:34 AM PDT

The Canadian financial system has much more regulation than the US system, proving the many ways the US could have survived the financial crisis much better then it did.

So why isn’t the US checking out the awesome example their neighbors are setting?

“The banks are running this joint” is so far from a joke that it makes me sad.

Canada isn’t exactly half a world away from the US, so there is absolutely no excuse for a major reform of the system modeled on Canada’s system to take place.

I hate that the banks have so much control over everything. They like ruining lives.

Dog Vs. Vuvuzela Video | That’s Not Nice…

Posted: 29 Jun 2010 04:42 PM PDT

If you insist on freaking your dog out by blowing a vuvuzela in its face, then ensure you have a carpet cleaner and some air freshener to hand.

Anyone who has watched any of the matches at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa will no doubt be aware of a constant noise in the background. That noise is thousands of people blowing vuvuzelas.

Most humans find the sound of vuvuzelas annoying, which has led to many complaints and a desire to see them banned. But it appears dogs dislike these cheap, brightly-colored instruments as well.

This particular dog dislikes it so much that he takes a leak on the carper when his owners wind him up with one. Which serves them right. In fact, I wish it had taken a dump at the same time to really get the message across.

Tsvetana Pironkova Wimbledon Video | Bulgarian Outsider Knocks Out Venus Williams

Posted: 29 Jun 2010 11:39 AM PDT

Venus Williams was supposedly a shoe-in to win the match, and a fair bet to win the Ladies Championship at Wimbledon for the sixth time in her career.

But no, as she’s been knocked out by relative unknown Tsvetana Pironkova, currently 80 places behind Williams in the official rankings. Prionkova has made a name for herself today, even though it’s a name not easy to remember.

The Bulgarian Pironkova beat Venus in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, and the whole match only lasted one hour and 25 minutes. Which is a long way off the record 11 hours and 5 minute match last week between John Isner and Nicolas Mahut.

Did Williams just have an off day or is this the start of the end for the player most deem to be the best female tennis champion who has ever played the game? Either way, Pironkova deserves her moment of glory.

Watch Awesome Time Lapse Watermelon Carving Video | From Fruit to Art

Posted: 29 Jun 2010 08:20 AM PDT

Watch a watermelon get transformed into a beautiful piece of art (all speedy-like, of course).

I hate the taste of watermelon, and I think this is the best thing to be done with the foul-tasting fruit.

Kidding. About the ‘best thing’ – not about me not liking the taste.

You can’t help but admire someone who not only has the patience to create something but the talent to create something so beautiful.

It took me a few moments to figure out what he was up to, but I was intrigued the whole way through.

I wonder how much he charges.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” Movie Trailer Released | Boy Wizard Film Trilogy Nearing Its End

Posted: 29 Jun 2010 02:40 AM PDT

I can almost hear the squeals of delight from J.K. Rowling fans the world over as the full-length trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits the web.

This is a suitably epic trailer for the next to last film installment. Everything about it is big, from the emotions of its teenage characters to the posturing of the formidable Lord Voldemort.

From this first look, it seems as if the final installment might just match the lofty expectations of its loyal legion of fans. We’ll find out when the first part hits cinemas on November 18, ahead of the second and final segment in July 2011.

Watch Funny British Quiz Show QI Video | Why Does Cheese Taste Better When Grated?

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 07:07 PM PDT

Stephen Fry and the QI bunch of comedians discuss why grated cheese really does taste better… and why use by dates are a bit bullocks.

I don’t think I will ever get sick of this show. As far as I’m concerned, it doesn’t get any better than fun facts and comedy all wrapped up into one.

I thought, perhaps, that this was a trick question and it doesn’t actually taste better – we just think it does. Who would have though you just needed more cheese to make it taste better?

But I don’t care what you say; I will never put that blue vein stuff in my mouth.

Dog Bullies Gang Video | Feral Dogs Try To Intimidate Motorist By Removing License Plate

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 06:56 PM PDT

You know you’ve got it bad when even dogs pick on you. This motorist finds himself being hassled by a gang of feral dogs who stand their ground despite the obvious threat of being run over.

The motorist decides to honk his car horn at the dogs to persuade them to move out of the way. His reward for not just ploughing into them? He gets his license plate ripped off the front of the car by one, probably the leader, of the pack.

I’ve watched this video several times and still haven’t quite worked out what’s going on. It looks clear that a gang of dogs are bullying a motorist, but why would they? And is that even possible?

I don’t even know what country this is in, but whichever it is I’m glad I don’t live there. OK, so the U.K. has rats the size of cats, but at least we don’t have canine bullies.

Watch Student Sex Scandal Teacher Stephanie Ragusa Sentenced Today News Video

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 06:49 PM PDT

Former Tampa teacher Stephanie Ragusa has admitted to having sex with two Davidson Middle School students and will learn today what kind of punishment she will receive.

Always smiling former math teacher, Ragusa has been accused of being arrogant, uncaring and even crazy by one of the victim’s father.

Watching her in the few video clips provided on this ABC news video, she certainly does seem to be acting a little odd for someone who is facing a long jail term.

I hate to think of what will happen to that pretty face behind bars.

Now it’s up for the court to decide.

“Karate Kid” Ralph Macchio Plans Film Comeback Spoof Video | “Wax On, F*ck Off”

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 04:43 PM PDT

Ralph Macchio made his mark in the 1980s as that nice boy from The Karate Kid, and that nice boy from The Outsiders. The problem is, now in 2010 he’s grown into a nice man.

While a good reputation keeps the wife and kids happy, in this spoof video Ralph learns that it doesn’t pay the bills. And so he sets about dirtying up his image in the style of other Hollywood comeback kids Robert Downey Jr. and Mickey Rourke.

Ralph Macchio’s never really going to convince us he's a bad boy, but it’s a lot of fun watching him try!

Hurricane Alex Video | Texas On Alert – Hopefully Avoiding Gulf Of Mexico Oil Spill

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 12:51 PM PDT

Alex isn’t yet a hurricane, being described as more of a tropical storm. But it’s been growing in strength and is set to reach the coast as a hurricane on Tuesday.

South Texas and North Mexico are already on alert, and there’s also a threat that Hurricane Alex could hit the area of the Gulf Of Mexico where the BP oil spill continues to pollute the environment.

Alex has already hit Guatemala and Nicaragua, killing several people in both countries. There’s a high probability that Alex is going to end up being a strong hurricane, possibly category 3, so people are being urged to take he necessary precautions if they’re in its path.

I’m just really pleased I live in the U.K., where hurricanes are few and far between. We haven’t had a big one since 1986, and though that was bad it is isn’t a patch on some of the ones which hit other parts of the world.

Lethal Anti-Rape Tool Bites Penis (Video) | Might As Well Be ‘Teeth’

Posted: 27 Jun 2010 11:08 PM PDT

I had to watch this silent video twice before I could actually understand how this tool works. Believe me, it’s something for guys to be afraid of. Then again, if you’ve ever seen the horror movie ‘Teeth,’ you might find it familiar.

Rape-aXe is advertised as “the Ultimate Anti-Rape Tool, and for a good reason. The tool can cause rapists potentially lethal injuries should they try to rape a victim with it installed.

Personally, I think this product does more harm than good. No, it’s not as bad as rape but it could potentially lead to murder. No doubt this product was made from a rapist victim- how else could someone come up with something this vengeful?!

Call me an optimist, but I can’t imagine that there could me a legitimate reason for this device to be legal. I positive that the human race will eventually grow out of heinous crimes like rape. Then again, I’m a just a guy.
