The Last Airbender Movie Review | Has M. Night Shyamalan Delivered The Goods?

Posted: 01 Jul 2010 07:28 AM PDT

Many people have been looking forward to The Last Airbender, the movie adaptation of the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, an animated TV series which ran on Nickelodeon for many years.

M. Night Shyamalan has written and directed the big screen version. But has he managed to deliver the goods this time? It appears not, unfortunately.

This reviewer hated the movie, and I’m seeing a very negative response from most people online.

Both fans of the TV series and professional critics alike think this is a turkey of a film, with bad acting, a long-winded storyline, and bad direction. And worst of all, it doesn’t follow the animated series very well.

Oh dear. M. Night Shyamalan seems to lost his magic touch. He’s made some great films in his time, but first The Happening and now The Last Airbender has harmed his reputation.

Cute Stop-Motion Animation Video | “Star Wars” Walker Dog in “AT-AT Day Afternoon”

In Star Wars, All Terrain Armored Transport or AT-AT walkers were used for ground assault and transport. But what if you could take an AT-AT out of the Empire and bring it home. It just might make a really good pet!

That’s the premise of the surprisingly sweet stop motion animated short film “AT-AT Day Afternoon.” We see the AT-AT Walker spending time with the baby, frolicking with the other dogs, and enjoying pettings on the couch.

The only downside seems to be the unfortunate Jabba the Hut shaped droppings the AT-AT Walker leaves. That’s a rather nasty mess to clean up!

John Cleese On Football Video | Former Monty Python Star Rants On U.S.A. & Soccer

It’s a continuing mystery why the U.S.A. neither finds football very compelling or is able to gets its collective head around the fact it’s called football and not soccer.

This video isn’t new, but it is very fitting with the 2010 World Cup currently taking place in South Africa. With John Cleese taking the opportunity to explain why America can’t seem to grasp the beautiful game.

He blames television and advertising in the main. It seems Americans can only play and watch sport in short bursts, partly because of a short attention span, and partly to enable companies to sell them stuff.

But why soccer rather than football? After all, as the former Monty Python star explains, football is a sport played with a ball and feet, while American football mostly involves hands and throwing. Madness, sheer madness.
