Dead Rising: Case Zero Trailer Video | PS3, Xbox 360 Game Prequel To Dead Rising 2

Posted: 31 Aug 2010 05:56 AM PDT

Dead Rising: Case Zero is being released today on PS3 and Xbox 360. The prequel to the forthcoming Dead Rising 2 is only available through Xbox Live and PSN rather than as a full retail game.

Dead Rising 2 is due out at the end of September, but it’s being trailed by a prequel telling the story of how Chuck Greene came to be in Las Vegas where he encounters hordes of zombies.

The story sees Greene trying to save his daughter from becoming one of the undead by finding and administering her a dose of Zombrex.

If you enjoyed the original Dead Rising and are planning to buy Dead Rising 2 then you should seriously consider purchasing Dead Rising: Case Zero. And for n00bs, well you can’t go wrong with zombies, can you?

Watch Funny Animated Short ‘Sketchy Duel’ Video | Pistols at Dawn! Or Not…

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 07:06 PM PDT

When two men go head to head in a duel, things don’t go quite as expected…

This is one of those videos that I wasn’t even going to watch, but then I did and enjoyed it much more that most of the videos I watch.

When I saw the title ‘Sketchy Duel’, I figured that things wouldn’t go according to the ‘one shot and someone is dead’ rules, but I didn’t expect what actually happened.

Everything about this video is funny. Even the animation style and sound effects fit in perfectly for the era during which these sort of duels happened.

Watch Hurricane Earl Update and Projected Path Weather News Video

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 06:30 PM PDT

Labor Day in the United States could get a lot more interesting along the east coast as upgraded Category 4 Hurricane Earl is projected to hit places like Long Island.

Of course, these things can change pretty quickly, but Earl has shown he makes those changes towards being more dangerous.

According to reports, New Yorkers still aren’t all that convinced that the hurricane will hit them, but emergency authorities are urging caution.

If you are located anywhere along the hurricane path, you’d do well to get your house as secure as possible and then see if you can visit people further inland.

Jimmy Fallon and Glee Cast Emmys “Born to Run” Video | Stars Perform Emmy Awards Musical Opening

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 04:43 PM PDT

New Emmys host Jimmy Fallon started yesterday’s awards ceremony with a bang, thanks to the cast of Glee and an assortment of other stars.

The motley crew, including 30 Rock’s Tina Fey, Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, and reality TV mom Kate Gosselin, got together for a fun version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run.”

The Emmys are typically pretty boring affairs, and this was just what the awards needed to shake things up.
It also felt like some of those celebs had wanting to flex their show choir skills since Glee’s inception.
Now how are next year’s organizers going to top that?

Everyday Parkour Video | ‘Last One’ Gym Game An Excuse For A Spot Of Free Running

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 12:05 PM PDT

We’ve all seen parkour videos before. There are tons on YouTube as people try to make a name for themselves and show their skills off to a wider audience.

This video is no exception, but it wraps the whole thing up as a game played after attending the gym. And it’s brilliant.

The problem with many parkour videos is that they show people randomly jumping about between buildings with no overall concept. And they can get rather boring as there are only so many different stunts involved.

The great thing about this video is that it actually has a plot. There are also some inventive stunts and some inventive uses of the environment. The music also rocks, and the twist ending is genius.

Maybe I’m easily pleased but this is one of the best parkour videos I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen many.

Bloom Box 60 Minutes Video | Bloom Energy Talks To CBS About Powering The Future

Posted: 30 Aug 2010 07:03 AM PDT

While the last few decades have brought us personal, portable technology, the means to power all these devices still requires being connected to the grid.

Over 100 Silicon Valley startups are working on ways to change this, developing power sources designed to provide an inexpensive, clean way of generating our power needs. Bloom Energy is one of these startups.

Bloom Energy has created the Bloom Box, an all-in-one mini power station which could provide us with our energy needs for the future. CBS’ 60 Minutes recently got the inside scoop.

The Bloom Box isn’t without its controversy, mainly because it still requires a fossil fuel to work. Although natural gas is better than other fossil fuels, it’s still a finite resource and so any technology using it is only a step in the right direction rather than being the ultimate solution to the energy crisis.

‘Temple Grandin’ Movie Preview (Video) | Behind The 5X Emmy-Winning Film

Posted: 29 Aug 2010 09:55 PM PDT

The HBO movie Temple Grandin recently won 5 Emmys, so naturally, I had to find out why. After all, how interesting could a ‘movie about killing cows’ be?

Temple Grandin, as it turns out, is actually about an autistic woman who grows up to be a doctor and researcher for animal behavior. The above video goes more in-depth with the entire cast.

I’ve been a fan of Claire Danes since she was a teenager in “My So-Called Life” and I have to applaud her for pulling off such a difficult role. She definitely deserves the “Best Actress” award.

As for the real-life Temple Grandin, I believe the Executive Producer put it best when she said, “She not only changed the face of the livestock industry, but she changed the face of Autism.”

Amazing Machine Turns Garbage Into Oil (Video) | Japanese Inventor Reveals Trash Solution

Posted: 29 Aug 2010 09:04 PM PDT

Every year Americans consume about 10.5 million tons of plastic and only recycle about 1-2% of it. Since the typical milk jug takes about 1 million years to decompose, nearly every single piece of plastic that was ever made still exists today…

Unless, of course, you’re talking about the ones that have been converted into oil with this machine.

Yesterday’s science fiction has officially become today’s reality. This Japanese invention could really change the world if it’s technology was used properly.

For those wondering if the machine “takes up too much energy” I have a very practical solution- simply use the oil that the it generates to power it! Hopefully the Japanese government will have the sense to fund this invention.

Funny August Fail Montage Video | Biggest Failures of the Month

Posted: 29 Aug 2010 05:09 PM PDT

At any given month, there’s a whole lot of stupid going on. This video brings it all together, reminding us of the idiocy that was the month of August.

You’ll remember many of these clips, including the bird flipping weatherman and the distraught birthday girl. But as the video clocks in at around 7 minutes 30, there’s sure to be some bits you missed when they were doing the viral rounds.

As with any video of this length, it won't all tickle your fancy. Many of these moments are the kind that fans of Funniest Home Videos lap up: stupid people doing stupid things without protective gear. But there’s enough variety here that you’re bound to get a giggle out of something.

Funny Dog Watching TV Video | British Bulldog Relaxing While Family Guy Is On Telly

Posted: 29 Aug 2010 12:40 PM PDT

Family Guy is a genius show. Why? For starters it features a talking dog who acts as if he’s human. I mean, how ludicrous is that? It could never happen in real-life, obviously…

This video shows a British bulldog chillaxing on front of the TV as if he’s human and owns the house. Maybe he does, as people have left properties to their pets in the past.

Although this is funny, it’s also freaky. The dog is actually watching the telly, not just looking at the screen but watching what’s happening. He’s also got the remote control in front of him ready to change channels quickly, and has his paw on the arm of the chair.

All that’s missing is a bottle of beer in his paw. Then again maybe the dog’s owner has weaned him off the beer because his consumption was getting out of hand. Damn alcoholic dogs; they’re all the rage these days.
