MIA – ‘Born Free’ Music Video | Romain Gavras Directed Video Banned From YouTube

Posted: 27 Apr 2010 07:04 AM PDT

This is M.I.A.’s new music video for Born Free. And it’s a video that has already caused controversy, having been pulled off YouTube for its portrayal of graphic violence. Oh, and there’s some brief nudity involved as well.

I fully expect this video to be pulled from YouTube, but you can watch the full, uncensored version at MiaUK.com. And you should do so to see what all the fuss is about, as long as you’re not of a sensitive persuasion.

The fact is that while this video is violent, it’s also truthful, and it has an underlying message that cannot and should not be ignored.

Replace the ginger-haired people from the video with Muslims and the whole thing feels a lot more real. Violence of this nature does happen, and is often carried out by the State and the people who do its bidding, such as the police and the military.

I actually think the song sucks ass, but it’s the video that is attracting all the attention. And rightly so.

Watch Funny Stand Up Comedian Louis CK on New Diet Video | Just Eat It

A sex addict can masturbate, but what can a food addict do?

Louis CK is on a new diet called ‘Just F$cking Eat It’ because you know you are going to do it anyway…

Then again, if you can resist eating all twelve doughnuts – unlike Louis – then you may be on the right track to recovery.

While funny, he’s also right. What can food (sugar) addicts do when they want something so bad… What is the equivalent ‘masturbation’?

I guess it’s tough luck and cold turkey to food addicts then. Or just go for the good stuff. That artificially sweetened stuff will kill you faster than real sugar…

How To Find Water In a Desert (Video) | Just Trick a Monkey

Posted: 26 Apr 2010 09:18 PM PDT

If you ever find yourself dying of thirst in a dry desert with monkeys and internet access, just remember the name WebTvHub and you’ll be able to find water in practically no time at all.

This clip shows you how tribesmen in Africa discover water by tricking baboons. Try it at your own risk.

With a little salt, rope, and the ability to run like a track-superstar, this African man tricks a monkey into locating a secret oasis of water. The sight is also breathtaking, but as the narrator point out, that really doesn’t matter when you’re dying for water.

Another thing you might notice about this video is the fact that the tribesman chases the monkey barefoot. Ouch! I get blisters just walking on a hot street!

Sonique Leads Cancer Charity Cover of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Video

Posted: 26 Apr 2010 05:09 PM PDT

British DJ and singer Sonique has spearheaded a new cover version of the Cyndi Lauper classic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” The single helps to launch the Race for Life series, which raises awareness and funds for women’s cancer research.

The singers assembled are like a modern day Band Aid … sort of. While their hearts are in the right places, random reality TV stars, soap actresses, and former girl band members are never going to set the world on fire.

Still, it’s hard to dismiss the effort too much. This marks Sonique’s return to the microphone since her own cancer diagnosis last year, and it’s always inspiring to see girls banding together.

Lightning Hits Plane Video | Why I Don’t Fly!

Posted: 26 Apr 2010 12:32 PM PDT

OK, so that’s not the only, or even main, reason I don’t fly. But it’s being added to the list.

This video is scary and awesome in fairly equal measures. You know what’s coming by the title of this post, and of the original YouTube video, but it’s still a “woah” moment when it actually arrives.

I’m guessing it’s something most of us won’t ever have seen before. We’re generally not outside staring up at the sky during a thunderstorm, and even if we were, lightning supposedly strikes planes very seldom. Although not seldom enough for my liking.

I would be interested to know whether the passengers were even aware of this happening. Did they feel the lightning bolt hit the plane? Or hear it?

They were obviously all fine, and the plane carries on as if nothing out of the ordinary has occurred, but I think I’ll keep my feet on the ground to avoid this particular encounter with nature.
