eBay watch: Artifort 1960s Mushroom Chair and Pouf by Pierre Paulin

Posted: 22 Feb 2011 12:36 PM PST

Mushroom

Buying one of these would cost you £1,656 new, not to mention the best part of £500 for the matching stool. Which is why this Artifort Mushroom Chair and Pouf by Pierre Paulin is such a bargain.

It was designed in 1960 by Paulin, an early example of space age design and even today, it looks as modern as anything else on the market.

This example is in dark blue and is described as being in 'very good condition' - the foam is firm with no sagging and the upholstery is clean with no snags. £750 is the 'buy it now price, which is cheap enough. But you can also make an offer.

Daisy Chair

20-28
The Daisy Chair is part of the Galleano Collection available at StyleStore, about which I know very little, but many of their designs are clearly inspired by iconic designs of the past.

The Daisy Chair reminds me a bit of Arne Jacobsen's Swan Chair as it has similar upturned armrests, although in this case, it is supposed to resemble flower petals rather than swan wings. It costs just over £940 with fabric upholstery or an extra £170 for leather covering.

Aardvark 2011 Manifesto Print

Posted: 22 Feb 2011 06:24 AM PST

2011web
Last year, we featured their 2010 Manifesto, so it seems only right that we mention the 2011 Aardvark Manifesto Print.

Like their previous work, the manifesto is a letterpress print, made using traditional wood and metal type and consists of various slogans for better living such "value the commonplace", "reclaim childhood" and my particular favourite "stay wonky". The print costs £25 unframed or £50 in a black frame.

Swedish Tea Time print featuring Stig Lindberg's Bersa design

Posted: 22 Feb 2011 04:55 AM PST

Swedish Tea Time

This Swedish Tea Time print honours the Stig Lindberg's distinctive Bersa porcelain design. Originally dating to the 1960s, it's still in production today and still is the ideal accompaniment to a cup of tea, as this design makes clear!

The print is the work of Handz whose Etsy shop is full of prints inspired by classic kitchenware: other designs are based around Cathrineholm bowls or Marianne Westman's Picknick, for example.

They are reasonably priced too: far cheaper than the actual objects. This A3 print costs $19.

Milton coffee table from Laura Ashley

Milton coffee table
Another simple and stylish piece of furniture courtesy of Laura Ashley and this Milton coffee table.

The oval table is part of the same range as the Milton Storage Unit we featured earlier in the month and it's got the same mid-century feel, although this table is a lot plainer and simpler. It has the benefit of the practicility of a built-in storage shelf and made from oak, it's sure to stand the test of time well.

The table costs £450.

Tala Retro Pancake Kit

Posted: 22 Feb 2011 02:39 AM PST

Tala-pancake-set

With two weeks to go until Shrove Tuesday, why not invest in the Tala Retro Pancake Kit?

Not strictly traditional as this is geared more to your fat American-style pancake, the kit contains all you need to create a foolproof batch, not least a non-stick lidded pan, allowing you to flip your pancakes without sticking them to the ceiling. Stay cool handles should mean you don't burn yourself either - so even the most inept of cooks can produce an impressive stack of pancakes.

Also included are a batter dispenser and a heart shaped pancake ring for those  romantic breakfasts in bed.

You can buy the kit online from Next
