Man Burns Koran At Ground Zero Video | Exercising His Freedom Of Speech, Apparently

Posted: 14 Sep 2010 11:41 AM PDT

There was I thinking the whole Koran burning nonsense had come to nothing. But no. It turns out one guy felt the need to protest at Ground Zero on Sept. 11 by doing just that.

God, there are some idiots around. Yes God, I’m talking to you, because you apparently made us all. So why did you make it so that many of us are absolute first-class a-holes?

The guy who burned the Koran at Ground Zero was apparently exercising his freedom of speech. Or perhaps he just wanted to be famous for five minutes. Either way, he’s committed what I consider to be a hate crime, and no one is free to carry those out in the supposedly civilized world we now live in.

At least the Australian Atheist who burned and smoked pages from both the Bible and Koran was making a point. Whereas this guy was just being a dick, and proving himself to be no better than the morons who burn the American flag.

The 19th Wife Book Review Video | Lifetime TV Movie Based On David Ebershoff Novel

Posted: 14 Sep 2010 04:35 AM PDT

The 19th Wife is a book by David Ebershoff that was first released in 2008 that looks at polygamous marriage in the Mormon Church. And this week saw Lifetime offer up its TV movie adaptation.

This video is a review of the book, but it’s the TV movie which has been making headline over the past few days. Mainly because one quintessential element of the plot has been changed to appease U.S. TV viewers.

In the literary version the modern-day tale which is intertwined with the past-days tale tells the story of a gay man called Jordan who is ex-communicated from the Church. In the film version Jordan isn’t gay and suddenly doesn’t have a boyfriend.

Is America still that far up its own arse (excuse the pun) that it cannot bear to hear stories of people who just happen to be gay?

I fear, as usual, this is more to do with advertisers and keeping them sweet. Yeah, let’s forget about decades of fighting for the rights of everyone to be equal. Because homosexuality just doesn’t sell products. Pathetic.

“Hereafter” Movie Trailer Video | Sneak Peek at Clint Eastwood’s Latest Film

Posted: 13 Sep 2010 05:07 PM PDT

I've never seen Clint Eastwood turn out a bad film. But I’m approaching his next glossy flick with a bit of trepidation. Is Hereafter really as schmaltzy as it seems, or is this just a case of the wrong trailer? You decide!

Hereafter tells the story of three people affected by death: a retired medium, played by Matt Damon, a French journalist who survives a tsunami, and a grief-stricken British schoolboy.

The movie has the potential to be profoundly moving, or profoundly cloying. On the plus side though, we've got Eastwood behind the camera and a script penned by Peter Morgan of Frost/Nixon and The Queen fame.

We can make our final verdict when Hereafter hits American theaters on October 22.

Funny First Job Interview Video | What If Cavemen Interviewed for Hunter/Gatherers?

Posted: 13 Sep 2010 12:46 PM PDT

I found The Armstrong and Miller Show to be a little hit and miss. For all the good characters and great sketches on show, there were also parts that didn’t really work and weren’t all that funny.

But I did like the “The Origins Of” sketches, which tried to explain where things we now take for granted originated.

This video shows the one for ‘Job Interviews’, and features a panel of three cavemen and women interviewing several hopefuls for a place in their tribe.

I find the whole idea funny, but it’s the grunting noises being subtitled that really tickles my funnybone. Maybe I’m easily pleased, maybe I’m even a bit of a Neanderthal myself. Extended brow and all.
