Custom Flipflops: Switchflops Commercial (Video) | ‘Change Your Style Not Your Sole’

Posted: 08 Sep 2010 11:41 AM PDT

Switchflops have been around for the past couple of years but are now starting to get mainstream due to appearances on news networks and viral marketing. The idea of the product is so simple and unique, it’s no wonder so many people are buying them.

And it doesn’t hurt that the creator of the product is also the very attractive model in the commercial.

It seems like every summer is flip-flop time- which means that a new pair must be bought for the occasion. Honestly, if I were to think of all the old pairs of flip-flips that are currently sitting in my family’s basement the number would probably exceed 15 pairs.

The idea came to Lindsay Phillips when she had to create a high school art project. When she got such positive feedback, she decided to launch Switchflops and it’s been history ever since. Ladies, feel free to bang your head against the wall now for not thinking of this idea.

Crazy Call Of Duty Review | Angry Kid Isn’t A Fan Of Modern Warfare 2, For Some Reason

Posted: 08 Sep 2010 11:36 AM PDT

It’s almost that time of year again. Yes, a new Call of Duty game is due for release soon. but I wonder whether Call of Duty: Black Ops will cause any of the anger and anguish which is on display in this video.

This is a strange looking kid, who some have described as the British version of Napoleon Dynamite, giving his own personal view on Modern Warfare 2. I think it’s fair to say he isn’t a fan.

He’s there looking utterly pissed off, foaming at the mouth like someone who has been bitten by a rabid dog. And then he starts hitting the wall. Literally.

The strange thing, well the strangest thing, is he never actually spells out exactly why he hates the game so much. I guess it’s because he’s crap at it. So was I, but I didn’t resort to this kind of behavior.

Glenn Shadix Tribute Video | Classic Beetlejuice – Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)

Posted: 08 Sep 2010 06:31 AM PDT

Glenn Shadix has sadly died at the age of 58 after falling over and banging his head at his Birmingham, Alabama home. This video is a fitting tribute to the actor who was best known for his role in Beetlejuice.

This is the classic performance of Day-O (The Banana Boat Song) by Harry Belafonte that takes place in the film. If you can’t work out what’s going on, the spirits that inhabit the house are using the dinner guests as their puppets.

Shadix had a long and varied career, appearing in many other films and TV shows, including regularly guest spots on Seinfeld.

Beetlejuice director Tim Burton was obviously a fan as he cast Shadix again in The Nightmare Before Christmas and the remake of The Planet Of The Apes.

Rest In Peace Glenn Shadix.

‘Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World’ Movie Review (Video) | Underrated & ‘Better Than Sex’

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 09:48 PM PDT

I’ve just come back from a late-night viewing of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. While the movie trailer makes it seems like a typical Michael Cera flick for bratty teens, the movie itself is filled with special effects & kick-ass fighting.

I wasn’t expecting much, but after I walked out of the theater I had to agree with the critics in this review- it’s probably the funniest movie I’ve seen all year!

It seems like everyone was confused as to what to think of this movie when it came out. With a budget of $70 million and only a profit of $30 mil so far, many would be quick to call it a flop. However, once it hits DVD, expect it to become a cult classic.

It’s been a while since I’ve been impressed with movies based on comics- especially since Marvel Studios is just re-hashing comic book adaptations. Call me crazy, but I can’t really see how the over-hyped Avengers movie could be more interesting than this flick.

Watch Survival Seedbank TV Ad Video | By Seeds & Prepare for the Apocalypse!

Screw gold and silver. If you want to survive the apocalypse, you’re going to want seeds.

Wow. I didn’t know that the apocalypse was being used as a sales advertising tool. Go figure.

In essence, this isn’t really a bad idea. The apocalypse may not come, but there are plenty of other reasons that having viable seeds on hand is a good thing.

However, you probably don’t need to go to companies like these who are going to charge you heaps and play on your fears of possible bad futures.

Nothing like a fear monger to get your heart rate up in the morning.

Watch Interview with Trace Cyrus of Metro Station Video

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 07:44 PM PDT

Trace Cyrus talks about Metro Station, their lives and what the future holds for the band.

What? There is another musical Cyrus running around? Sheesh, you need a program to follow this screenplay.

Apparently the Cyrus ‘dynasty’ is growing even more as successful musician Trace Cyrus throws his hat into the television arena by developing a new show for the Syfy cable network called UFO: Unbelievably Freakin’ Obvious.

Billy Ray is still doing well with his children, as – after being with Miley on Hannah Montana – he is now set to be involved with UFO.

With tattoos, teens and television in common, the money just keeps coming in for this family.

Australia Elects First Female Prime Minister Video | Result Announced 17 Days After Election

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 05:17 PM PDT

After more than two weeks of waiting, Australia finally has a new prime minister, one which looks a lot like the old prime minister. The result is still a historic one for Oz though, as Julia Gillard has become the first female elected to the top job.

Not that the public had a lot to do with the final outcome in the end. After the voters failed to give either major party enough votes to form government, the decision was left to Greens and independent senators.

Julia Gillard and the Labor party won the vote by the narrowest of margins, giving Australia its first federal minority government in 70 years.

Exactly what that will mean for the country will probably take some time to digest, but this comprehensive news video helps bring us up to speed with the story to date.

National Koran Burning On 9-11? (Video) | Controversial ‘Burn A Quran Day’

Posted: 07 Sep 2010 12:42 PM PDT

9-11 is usually a day of remembrance for those that died in the twin towers and those brave enough to help on that disastrous day. In the years following, there have been candle light vigils and moments of silence to honor those that died.

This year, however, one Church in particular is actually encuoraging a national ‘Burn A Quran’ day. In other words, a day of hate.

I’m no longer a follower of Islam, but whenever I see something as ignorant as organized hatred, my blood boils. Sure, there have been war protests in other countries with American flags set on fire, but there isn’t an entire day dedicated to it.

I’m all for freedom of speech and a right to protest, but this “protest,” as this video points out, is run by a scam artist with no real goal in mind except to make a quick buck. I hope most readers here on WebTvHub are smart enough to realize this and take the higher ground on 9-11 this year.
