Adidas Chile 62 trainers reissued in two colourways

Here's something that's ghosted in without warning - new reissues of the Adidas Chile 62 trainers.

The shoes were originally designed as football 'boots', designed for use on frozen pitches back in the early 1960s. According to Adidas, which is selling these directly from its own site, the new leather reissue 'brings back all the original legendary details for a new generation', including, what looks like a vintage finish for that leather.

Two colour options, a black and white that's pictured over the page and what's described as 'coffee and bone', which is another way of saying brown and cream. £72 gets you a pair online.

Thumbs Up 1980s-style 'Brick' iPhone case

Thumbs

As we seem to be on the verge of re-living the 1980s both politically and economically, you might want to accessorise yourself with something that fits the era - like this Thumbs Up iPhone case.

Yes, not only is it a case to keep your iPhone safe, it also turns your cutting-edge smartphone into one that looks like first generation yuppie's phone. Or Del Boy off Only Fools and Horses if you want a lower-rent comparison.

It still gives you access to all the controls and fits 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation iPhones, as well as giving your mates a laugh. Thing is, they might be laughing at you rather than with you. £12.99 gets you one 'soon' online.

1940s-style Campaign Bedside Table

Detail_763
The Sleep Room has recently diversified its product range, so that as well as beds, mattress and linens, they now sell bedside tables too. They have started their collection off with three style, including the Campaign Bedside Table.

Not sure about the origin of the name, but the design was apparently inspired by a 1940s sideboard spotted in a Parisian market. It is made from oak with vintage bronze finish metal legs and has one drawer.

The table costs £225 from The Sleep Room.

Vintage Paper Doll Cushions

Paperdoll_front
Chocolate Creative, aka textile designer Margarita Lorenzo, has produced a cute range of Vintage Paper Doll Cushions.

The cushions feature a design based on those paper dolls who came with a selection of clothes that hooked onto them with tabs. There are three dolls to chose from, Leo (pictured here), Leni or Davide, who are all surrounded by their best vintage outfits. The Leo and Davide cushions measure 40cm by 30cm and cost £43, whilst the Leni design is a little bigger and costs £2 more.

Buy them online from the Chocolate Creative website.

eBay watch: 1980s Sinclair C5 electric vehicle

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 06:08 AM PST

Sinclair

It was launched in 1985 as the future of commuter travel, but was treated a joke vehicle upon its launch. But over 25 years on, electric vehicles are all the rage - although none look quite like the Sinclair C5.

It's essentially a tricycle, steered with a handlebar and able to hit 15mph at a top speed. You can also use it without a driving licence.  None of that sold it to the public though, with only 12,000 actually shifting.

This is one of them, which has been in a museum on the Isle of Wight for over 20 years and is still in factory fresh condition, working just fine too. The only things missing are the rear hub caps. Fancy it? Bidding right now is at £170, not bad for a piece of British motoring history, albeit a very quirky one.

Ary Circular Alabaster tray from Hus & Hem

Posted: 28 Jan 2011 06:06 AM PST

Circle tray
Hus & Hem have just ordered in a great selection of Ary trays - the classic range of patterned birch wood trays that have been made in Sweden since the Fifties. The selection includes patterns from the Arts and Crafts movement and Liberty fabric designs but it was this circular Albaster tray that caught my eye.

It's another take on the 70s-style folk flowers that are just about everywhere at the moment. This is made interesting by the playful patterns created with the black outline against the white of the tray. Indeed in their product blurb, Hus & Hem say it reminds them of another retro classic - the Spirograph!

The tray costs £21.50
